too little bang for the buck.....

$150 plate
basic exhaust
wategate you can duplicate with $.25 worth parts
$170 exhaust turbine housing
intake that doesn't have THAT much benefit
smallish box filter....BHAF is better and cheaper

All for the bargain price of $3000.......for the 300hp and 700 lb/ft as advertised, it can be done alot cheaper ..........now if I were going to throw 3G's at my truck at one time, I could have some real fun.

The owner that had the truck before me put on a banks power pack. He also put in put in marine injectors, and also had pump work done. When i go it, i put on a BHAF and 4" exh. and adjusted plate and gov. arm. My hp is 349 and tq at 902. 1400* on a long hard 4th gear run.(pyro would bury @1500* before the 4" and BHAF)

The previous owner could have done better with a #10 plate instead of a banks and 4" from the get go and have more HP/TQ than i do now at lower EGTs.

All im saying is that you can build and customize your package for less and have more HP/TQ in the end if you build it your self.

I have the full power pack on and it works great.
Have not check on dyno yet but dont think it is making 300 HP.
but it makes a lot of differance pulling a load, gets rolling faster and better fule milage.

I had the Stinger Plus installed and was happy with the results. I have never had it on the dyno but you can definitely feel the power increase. The only downside I can tell is I can see a new transmission in my future. It seems the transmission (automatic 47RE I think) looses a lot of the new power until lockup occurs and the shift points are sluggish and aren't where they should be. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably go a different route - based on a lot of reading on this forum - and would have saved a few bucks.

The exhaust upgrade made it sound great and am considering loosing the cat converter next.

The Banks kits are great for folks who want to get it done all at once with parts engineered to all work together and fit perfectly. Many people like this way of doing it but you can come out money ahead, though not by very much, doing it all yourself. When the 2nd gens first came out Banks was about the only show in town, thats why you see so many out there. Not so nowadays.

My .02. My truck came with the Power Pack and since then I have replaced everything with the exception of the "twin ram" intake, wastegate, and exhaust housing. I won't miss it one bit. Save your $$ and make more power.

I did the same as MDMIKE I replaced the the Banks parts except the Twinram with other parts & it had more power, they give you a 14cm housing & I have a 16 on it now.
If I had to do it all over a gain I'd just get the biggest plate,370 inj,ATS manifold,
good exhaust,4000 gov spring kit & guages on my own,the Twinram isn't needed!

I took $2500 dollars of the over $3,000 that Banks promised me would make 210 H.P. on their dyno, and I made 383 H.P. on an independent dyno. I have updated several Banks Power Pack units with a #10 plate and 370 injectors for a real kick in the butt. I have only one question how many of the high power trucks have Banks Parts on them? Infidl has it exactly right Banks parts come in a complete kit for a price, with one complete set of instructions for the do-it-yourselfer.
