Ok I am now starting to get into this crap (uh oh) like I didnt have enough money sucking hobbies as it was. I havent done much to the rig but the Ol' lady is starting to nip things in the butt before I get carried away. I posted about fuel treatments in another thread so thats not the answere I am looking for but is there any other low cost thigs I can do to get a little more giddy-up-go? I have seen on here mention of timing adjusments; does this kill mileage? Is this a dealer only thing, any diesel shop, or can I do it myself? I have also seen mention of wastegate mods; does this apply to the 24 valve? Any other minor low cast mods that can be done??
No freebies for the 24Valvers... Time to pick a powerbox of your flavor for power.. gauges.. injectors... trany upgrade... Keep an eye on the classified...
Timing controlled by the ECM/power boxes... closing off the wastegate isn't going to help any without a powerbox (with a boost fooler) because once the ECM see about 22lbs of boost its going to cut back the fuel..
Oh.. only freebie/cheap upgrade I can think of for you is a lock-up swtich to lock up the converter..
Good Luck

I guess I needed to upgrade my sig. I now have the AFE stage #1 cold air intake and a Dr. Performance Stage #2 (80hp - 145Ftlbs) since the last time I filled it out.
So now, would messing with the waste gate be a benifit? What do the boost foolers run? Can this be done by someone that is mechanically inclined but with very limited diesel and turbo experience?

Yea.. I watched a min of the video they have online about the install.. and it looks like it has the boost fooler... and it attaches to the pump wire... (not sure which level they were installing.) Your next up grade is going to be injectors.. that will probably be the hurtin on your stock tranny...
Good Luck
