Stan,

You said a mouthful there!

I agree almost all the way across the board with you. I think it is sad, that right after the tragic events of 911 people KNEW what was important, and what wasn't, but have some how forgotten already.

Life is just too soft here in the good ole USA, and people quickly go back to living their boring little lives, worrying about the silly stuff.

I honestly think it should be a requirement that Every able bodied man and woman, spend a term in the service of this country. When you have to see up close the horrors of reality, you have a tendency not to be swayed by these liberal yahoos.

They would rather spend millions on midnight basketball for teenagers, than their education. They would rather spend millions trying to take away our guns, than strengthen our borders.

Instead of giving tax breaks to business to promote keeping the jobs at home, they sell us out to the foreign job market. I am all for lending a hand, but we need to take care of our own, or we won't have anything left to lend.

Ronald Reagan, helped build us back up, only to have it all tossed away again. Sadly I think we need another dose of reality, as too many just DO NOT GET IT!.

Enough with the career politicians! selling us down the river. We need honest hard working folks to lead us back from the brink before it is too late.

Wake up people! Do what is right and don't vote party lines. Vote for the people who actually STAND for something!

Lary, you have to vote party lines. The guy maybe great by himself, put him with other Democrats and you are in trouble! I agree with you we need honest politicans (that is an oxymoron!) but the political process corrupts them. The way the system is set up you have to be rich and crooked to even make the ballot.

What are your views on other people from english speaking countries wanting to work in your country. I would love to work in the States and would also be willing to learn what ever it takes to get that job. The western world has this problem of labour and age, we are living in a world were people are living longer and retiring earlier and the young kids dont want to do anything that doesnt involve them sitting behind a pc screen earning 4x a much as his dad. I am a bricklayer, tiler, and Health & Safety Risk Manager and have had to learn all of this to make ends meet. We in the UK have similar problems with Iraqi/Bosnian refugees who are taking over our country, they claim government benefits, we house them, cloth them, feed them and they even get free medical treatment. They break our laws and cannot be touched as they are political assylum seekers and are above the law, they rape woman and steel from local business and they are rewarded with vouchers to purchase mobile phones and cars from the government.

If you think your system is bad, you are not alone!

Kurt

H&S/Risk Manager pays petty well over here. Last company I worked for sent safety folks over to the UK/Ireland pretty regularly. I don't see why the reverse couldn't be true.

My view, personally, is if you speak the language and have a marketable skill you can use to pay your own way, the welcome mat is out and the door is open.....

I would guess though that we're comparing apples to oranges. Most folks who speak the language and have a marketable skill emigrate legally.......

I think about emigrating to the US since quite long ago. I'd be the classic ecocnomic refugee. Not too poor over here, but the taxes start killing me.
Maybe I'll have to go to the embassy soon...
(Next tax raise on the go, and more welfare too... seems to get less interesting to go to work anyday)

My wife is a citizen now- and came here legally. I have dealt with the INS (now homeland security) many times, to get relatives to visit etc- it is much easier to just go and do it illegally- if that were the way my jib would lie- funny thing is- everyone I wish to bring over here, wants to come here not for any other reason than to visit family, they like thier own country just fine, thanks, but have to jump through hoops. I wanted my cousin in law to come live with us, he is highly educated, with masters level in computer software and business degree, but they said "no, he might become an illegal alien".
