Once again, political correctness rears its ugly head: Certain malls around where I live have changed the name of the Easter Bunny to the "Spring Bunny" in an attempt to not offend anyone. What a load of crap. Story Here

They've stooped to that level here in Connecticut as well. All this PC and censorship that is continually getting worse and worse in my opinion. Before you know it the term "Freedom of Speech" will be something that is only found in history books.... wait, probally not since it will be sensored out.


Just my own personal opinion, others are always open to differ. (at least in my America)

What a lot of people don't know is that PC is a lot older than you think. For instance, Christmas is celebrated to coincide with the Winter Solstice which is a pagan holiday.

Too bad it's against the law to run over people like that or bash them in the head with a bat. When I was going through high school, many many years ago, our home room teacher was a fellow by the name of Mr Dan Brumbaugh. Now Mr Brumbaugh was a farmer on the side and a preacher and very well respected at that (and he stood 6' 8" tall too). When revenend Brumbaugh said in the morning that we were going to pray and that anyone that did not want to participate was free to leave the room, not a soul ever left that I can remember. Now I'm not sure why that was.

 

Well, the PC's of the world can call it what they want, but it will always be the easter bunny to me though. When's hunting season for the PC's start?

 

I read an article once that said Easter co-incided(sp?) with the Druid rite of the Spring Soltice, and that the eggs and such were adopted as a way of incorperating some of the Druid symbolizm into the holiday.
For the same reason, an evergreen( another Druid symbol) was adopted into the Christmas celebration..
This made it much easier to convert
the populace( mainly druid and pagan beliefs) to Christianity.

I am not claiming this is true, but it sounded like a reasonable explaination to me....


As to the PC types ....... I am not christian, but have never been offended by any of the symbolizim or
holiday names.....I realy wish some people had better lives so they wouldnt feel the need to try and live ours for the rest of us....
That being said... wheres my shotgun........be vwery vwery quite....we're hunting wabbits...... hehehehehe
