99, hate to hear about you getting axed. Too much of todays military revolves around looking pretty, great pt scores, and political correctness rather than abilities. Guess it's easier to train another one every few years than to utilize to knowledge of many years. Good luck and give me a ring if you need anything.
Chris, With all the folks I work with , it's a joint forces headquarters, I can end up being called most anything. Doesn't matter as long as they call me for chow, pay day, and happy hour.
CDT, bowing is not required in my exaulted presence. Kissing of the ring will suffice.
Butch, I only had 21 years time in rate. You're still a cherry.
My career field is so messed up because there are so few of us. There are only 40 or so Army wide in my grade and MOS. What I'm hoping now is that with all the reorganizations taking place, my career path is much better. Therefore I could easily see an E-9 within 3 years. 'Course I may have to go back to being a "gun bunny", but a M109A6 Pallidin battery ain't a bad deal. The Army we knew is undergoing the its largest transition in over 50 years. Someone got smart and realized it's a pain to try and move a 20,000 man unit. It is easier to move self contained 600 - 800 man self supporting units, kinda like the USMC MEF's. We don't have to sweat the onslaught thru the Fulda Gap anymore. For you younger guys out there, now is the time to take advantage of what is happening. Those of us that are older and nearing retirement won't be with you in another few years. Learn all you can, from all you can, and you can step into our shoes without a sweat. I've got 3 yrs, 10 mo, 20 days, max, before mandatory retirement. 41 yrs, 3 mo, 15 days.
Gonna be on the road a bunch for the next couple of months. Will be rolling from here to Oklahoma to Colorado to Maryland to Alabama and back. The beer will be in the back of the truck. Just look for the big red one with the 'baca spit down the side.
I'll let y'all know where I'll be and when.

Military is movin way to fast for me now a days, I just can't think that fast anymore. Safe travels to you.

Skipping down the hall ain't a problem. I can do it with a beer even. Got the technique down pat listening to some song about tip toeing thru tulips.
