Sadly, idiocy is not limited to the USA.
My wife and I both shook our head when we read about that in the local newspaper last weekend. The incident happened at the high school that my wife went to (a few years back of course).

Hmmm....lets add this one to the list of other stupid things that people have let happen over the years. Let's see, a woman was awarded a ton of money because she spilled coffee on her lap and burned herself (I think we all know where that happened), A burglar fell through the roof of the house he getting ready to break into and was awarded money because he was injured in the process, the prison sytem(self explanatory)..........and now a Good Sumaritan just trying to help another kid out is punished for a good deed....something is definitely wrong these days!!!!
Any others you might wish to add, please do so cuz I bet there are some real doozies that I've yet to hear of.

i watched a documentry on the rotten roneys debacle. in the documentry they showed 3rd degree burns. stated that macdonalds served their coffee at 197f, stated that while she was in a car, she was a) not driving, her son was. b) the car never left the parking lot before the incident happened. apparently they had burned alot of ppl before her but they have good lawyers and a nice big slush fund to pay off ppl.
now im not saying your wrong but what makes more sense, joe citizen takes macdonalds to court for the money that macdonalds would have paid anyways or was there an actual problem that the corperation had done a decent job of hiding until that little fiasco.
as for the kid in calgary, that stems from hover parenting and the liberals not believing that you may actually be able to do something without an authority figure to "guide" you, comrade. sadly the candian system is ripe for these kinds of screwups. mostly because the belief that perpatrators are victim of their situation and not concious of their actions. apparently there are no bad people, just bad things, and heaven help you if you try to correct them without "help".
