Would you do it? F350 Swap.

Not that I have this opporitunity, but a friend and I were just curious...if you have a ferd F350 and dodge CTD...would you swap the engine and get rid of whats left of the Dodge? The reason I ask is because I love the way a ferd F350 rides but I hate the engine and I like the cummins, but am not as comfortable in a dodge..

What year of f350 body style are you talking about? I would love to swap a cummins into a 95-96 f350 jet black body. It would be the last truck I would ever own

No ... I love my Dodges. Every single furd that I have ever owned has had troubles. The seatbelts lock up, the power window motors shear the plastic gears, windshield wipers blow fuses ... you name it. Not much better luck with the GMC's either.

I have only had two things go wrong in my Dodges ... a/c condenser leak and the cracked dashboard. I would really like a 1970 4x4 Dodge longbed with the Cummins.

I guess I hadn't thought much about everything else breaking..I drove my boss's F350 crew cab with a V10 gasser on a 200 mile trip hauling an ultralight airplane to its new base in his goosneck before I got my Dodge and I loved how it rode...it sure went through a tank of gas pretty quick though! I can't imagine doing that now with the gas prices the way they are...

I couldn't imagine why anyone would want to put a Cummins in an F-350 Ford; unless, of course, they need their head examined.

Hey....I had an MRI a year or so ago, and from what I can understand, my head is pretty normal!

I'll take a Ford truck, Dodge engine (Cummins) and a Chevy tranny (Allison), and a large fry...call it a day.

I'd like to take a wrecked/rusted 3rd gen, G56 4WD CTD and remove every scrap of sheetmetal so nothing is left but the frame, powertrain & running gear... then I'd fab up a tube-framed stainless steel body/bed configuration with the Browning .50 tripod mounted in the bed.

With about 5K# gross, and a conservative box (100-150HP), it'd be fun pretty much anywhere!

I had to vote no because of the extreme engineering required to accomplish this task.

The $$$ to do it correctly will buy a newer Dodge and you can send me the engine from your old one!!
