Working with a control freak
Working with a control freak
Don't know how many of you have been in this situation - I'm there right now with a co-worker/team lead. This article isn't like most I've read - it actually explains the condition, details how to (try) to help the person, and what other options may be. Most of all, it talks about "why" a control freak (or micromanager) became that in the first place. Perhaps it could help out others in a tough situation.

I know what ya mean. But with me, I think, is because I am quite a bit younger, yet I have senoirity at our shop. He's not mean about it or anything, but always has to put his 2 cents worth in on everything I do, and try and take over the job because "this isn't his first rodeo"...ok. I get paid the same either way, but its startin to irritate me a bit. What really got him goin was when my boss told him I'm in charge when he leaves, haha. Not really helping your situation at all, but found it was nice to vent.
You'll find this almost anywhere you go, not because you're "senior" in status but because you have the knowledge to be rated that high.
The easiest way to fix it is just include them, make them feel noticed, or just have them do it. They'll either shine or fall flat on their backside, and normally its the latter so have a backup plan when they do crash and burn.
