Woody the flying dog

We have a great little Jack Russel Terrier, who being a "Jack" is nuts. When driving in the car on many occasions my wife and I have discussed the fact that the dog might jump out the window. After many rides where due diligence was placed on keeping the dog secure I now know for a fact.
Was just pulling away from a 4-way stop when the dog noticed a cat and literally leaped through the driver side window which was about 2/3 opens, needless to say the chase was on. Luckily another driver behind me also pulled over, we nearly had the dog when the bloody mutt realized he could still do more damage. The dog bolts down the side walk at break neck speed and suddenly hangs a hard right where there is some barking. I run back to the truck (one boot unlaced, slightly out of shape, you get the picture) and pull up where I saw him dart. Dieu meric, I notice a little pommerian trying to be seduced by you "Count Cyrano", the little rat is fixed but it hasn't sunk in yet (6 years old and still wishing he could get some).
After I cornered him I had to restrain my temper, for being a guy myself I can well understand the primal urge, friggin lucky nothing happened we don't have kids yet and the dog is definately family.
No worse for it except for a slight limp in his front leg, that was one hell of a leap, thankfully I only have 16" tires.

By the way this story is true, lucky for me there was no one home except for the little pommy.

Now it is time to play .

Jack Russels are just about the only dogs I've ever seen more aloof and crazy than Beagles...

I agree with on that one, bought the dog as Valentine's gift. Then I bought the book, wow, what an eye opener. First comment was concerning the TV show Frasier, Eddy is an extremely well trained Jack, unfortunately many apartment owners didn't realize that. This resulted in the creation of JRT rescue organization for lots of dogs where being given up after some expensive chewing incidents. Jacks love chewing and leather is high on the list along with wicker furniture. My wife loves her shoes and keeps the dog supplied with stuffed teddy bears from Value Village. Some of those toys don't last 5 minutes, the good ones like Gunds stick around for a few days.

Here is the beast, he is just wiped, the phrase "truck ride" barely drew an eyeblink. I am just relieved that it ended well, there is a free way just behind the house where he was "Romeoing".
