Wire Transfers.. Safe?

Is it safe to give your bank account number to someone that wants to buy a vehicle from you? I have never done this before but it seems like a safe transaction. I have several accounts and would have it transfered to a different account immediately. Can the bank take the money away once it's in your account?
This is not for my truck BTW. It would be for my wife's conversion van. I have it on E-Bay right now.

The money would be coming from the Navy Federal Credit union in Tennessee BTW.
Not from Nigeria with a stipulation that I send some of it back.......

I have had one of these type transactions and got along fine but it made me nervous. I would feel better about giving my info tto his bank than giving it to him.

I think the wire transfer is safer than a cashier's check. Your bank actually has the money when they tell you they've received the transfer but the check might be a fake. You could create a new account just for this type of transaction and never keep any substantial money in it.

That's what I'm thinking too... I'm not worried about the Bank as much as someone forging a cashiers check from the bank...

I have never had a problem using wire transfers, both out of my bank to someone, or into my bank from someone. Have not used it in a while tho.

Well, he's actually going to get a Bank Draft which is basically a line of credit for a new car. When he gets here we will go to Navy Federal Credit Union and they will issue me a cashiers check....

I am the least trusting person I know. Unfortunately when you sell something on the internet you end up with both parties leary of each other. I got hosed a couple of years ago on e-bay and learned my lesson about paying cash without having the goods in hand...
This guy is flying in from Tennessee on Saturday. Now we have to find something for the wifey to drive......
