Evening DTR.

 

My son's got a wake up call today at school.
4 teens were involved in a high speed crash at lunch today. one died, one is in critical condition, two walked away.
Not a straight panel left on the 05 ford truck they were in.

 

Im too cold to care anymore.
Neighbors house on the other side of the hill from us burn up on Tues night. No power so they really cranked up the fireplace causing a stack fire. High winds, no water, dark. Only bright note was they thought the dog had gotten cooked but it turned up the next day. In addition to firefighters, the linemen really deserved their pay over the last three days.

Only problem is that at that age, whenever a friend or schoolmate got killed in an auto accident I still knew it couldn’t possibly happen to me.

 

I believe in the last month, in 3 counties that surround Birmingham, we've lost 9 teenagers to traffic deaths. The schools have been hit hard. The last cost a 16 yo male and 14 yo female their lives but the other 2 passengers in their vehicle only spent about 24 hours in the hospital. The survivors were buckled in. The male driver was ejected. He ran a stop sign.

 

its sad, there are only about 600 students in the high school here. everyone atleast knows of everyone else.

 

We had a few when I was in school too, but it seems like there are more of them now. Are kids more brazen or reckless than they were when we were in school? Or are we just hearing more about the accidents because we're all so 'connected' now? One of the brain-trusts in my class drove off an open draw-bridge. On purpose. Dukes of Hazard style... "Yehaw." He didn't make it.

Been slow in the break room the last few weeks. guess I'll take the helm for the night shift, just checked in on duty, be in and out all night.

itll be ok... cut a load of wood today. cooked dinner. I will probably be in and out for a couple hours.

 

Yeah, it usually doesnt slow down like this except on nice summer days. Maybe I need to take a shower.

I can smell ya down here Bark, smells like beer and burgers.

 

Burgers sound pretty good. I actually was serious about taking my monthly shower but I just found out the pilot light got blown out on the water heater--it be cold!. Guess I will put it off for some other day.
