Willie Nelson makes a Gay Cowboy Song?
After Brokeback Mountain where 2 gay cowboys try to hide there feelings for each other, Willie (Biodiesel) Nelson releases (on Valentines Day) a gay cowboy song? Give me a break!
Why are cowboys being targeted as being "secretly" gay? I'm sure there are gay cowboys just as there are gay cops, teachers, firemen, ect.
What the heck is going on here? I'm not a homo phobe so don't even go there, I just don't see the need to pick on one group of people as being more gay than another.
Can't we keep sex where it belongs? In private!

I'm agreeing with you. It just ain't right. The cowboy has been thought of as a straight, rugged, strong man for quite some time. I guess since because cowboys are supposed to wear tight jeans and are supposed to be all alone by themselves in the wilderness with just a bunch of other men on a cattle run with no female companionship then those are signs of them being gay. Boy this country is going down the tubes quickly. At least they ain't made fun of the Duke or Clint Eastwood yet.
Willie nelson wrote a song. Its subject, timing etc, are secondary. The only big deal about any of it is someone making a big deal about it.
Let him write his songs. Who cares? And how does it make cowboys a target?
A writer wrote a book. A singer writes a song. Its an old story.

Manulipitation of the masses. When Marlboro cigs were introduced to the US way back they were a "womans smoke" sales were way down so they targeted the American Cowboy as a macho dude that would make people think they would be cool by smoking Marlboros. Within months they were the #1 seller. Today we have the left wing hollyweird crowd showing you that the macho cowboy is gay so you will accept this as a way of life. If you agree with the movie sorry for you. personally I`ll never see it, what next? gay dodge truck owners gang. redicilous.

I have straight & gay, tenants, painters, carpet layers, bankers, car dealers, customers, ect. To single out any occupation or group is plain wrong. REDICULOUS! No, I'm NOT gay, do I support the gay life style, NO. It is NONE of my business what is done in private.

I'm not sure cowboys are being singled out. I think there just happens to be a book=movie=song about being gay that happens to have cowboys in them. My point is since cowboys are like the rest of us why would'nt there be stuff like this that has them in the plot once in awhile. I worked with cowboys and some of them were great people- a few of them hit their wives, treated their animals like dirt and otherwise showed the same low character traits that we would see anywhere amoung a few of us. If some are gay too and someone writes about that so what, other than it might bother our sensibilities.
I think any time sexuality is openly the subject of anything it goes right to our own ideas of modesty (or not depending on your personality), and with cowboys tests the preconception of what that is. Remember, John Wayne and Clint Eastwood are ACTORS pretending to be cowboys. And pretending to be Hollywood versons of cowboys at that. So how valid is that ideal of a cowboy anyway? My gosh look where it comes from.
There is a history of cowboys someplace some guy did that painted a great picture of the true american cowboy, before he became a myth. I wish I knew what its called because while it shows how the original cowboy was part vagabond, part hard working horse genius, part dependable, part undependable, they also had equal amounts of goodness, honesty, low/high morals, poor/good judgement etc. Mainly they went extinct. And Ranch hands are a totally different animal.
Just my opinion.

Personally, I think it's disgusting. Nothing from Willie Nelson should surprise anyone though. He's about as liberal as they come.

You could always send him an e-mail and let him know how disappointed you are:

Just to get an idea of how liberal Willie is, during the last Presidential Election he was supporting Dennis Kucinich, a congressman from Cleveland (and disgraced former mayor of Cleveland), for the Democratic nomination. He was even in Ohio several times to perform concerts for Kucinich. Even playing off Willie's popularity, Congressman Kucinich was a non-entity in the Primary because he was way too liberal for most D's, including Ted Kennedy.
But, like others, I still dig Willie's music and have no plans to see Brokeback Mountain...
