That was beautiful! The only thing that competes with guns and chainsaws! I actually added a little to my Pere Marquette collection this week. If I ever hit the lottery, I'll run Live Steam.

Here's the one that runs over my way. This is what they copied The Polar Express from, including the sounds (author of the book was from Michigan and had the film company agree to use it). It's a 2-8-4 Bershire.

In high school I rode a steam train every Sunday night on the way back to boarding school after spending the weekend at home.

That is real torque. Growing up they had a switch runing at the morton salt mine yards at night. (early 60's) I could watch that run all night. My uncle had two steam engines we ran in the fields for harvest days. You could get real power with those. One was a Bull Dog the other an Avery

I rode on a couple of different steam trains over the years, both here in the states and in other countries. I know that to most people it is just another train but there is something nostalgic and pleasing about riding one.

Was only in the 1225 when idling. Rode their PMRR caboose, pulled by their Flag Coal Co. switcher. There's an 040 operating at The Buckley Old engine show I've ridden a few times. Once even with Holsteinman. Lots of coal, wood, and oil power running around there. Alsdo rode the Grand Traverse Dinner train before it went belly-up. That was behind a couple F7 diesels though. I don't count the trains in Germany. Kinda like comparing their little cabover tractor-trailers to our OTR trucks.

The first video looked like he was running a SPS66. The locomotive smoked hard down low but cleared up gradually the faster he went.

Cool video.
