"Honda is known for affordable, reliable cars like the Accord and the Civic.
Now, the automaker is taking on the truck market with the same practicality and then some.
The Honda Ridgeline was on display at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
"It's a 3.5 liter, V-6, V-tech engine, 255 horsepower. I allows you to tow 5,000 pounds but still get good fuel economy with low emissions. So, it's the best balance of performance and good environmental friendliness," Andy Boyd of Honda said.
The towing capacity can handle a small boat, motorcycles or ATV, Boyd said.
Honda is the last major auto manufacturer to get into the truck market.
"We really designed it to be kind of like a firehouse: big, industrial-strength controls, easy to use even with gloves on … But at the same time very comfortable and refined," Boyd said.
Honda wanted to make a truck for the people who use it not so much for construction or ranch and farm work but for recreation.
That idea is highlighted in the truck's features. The tailgate opens two ways: the traditional flip down or side to side, like a normal car door. The truck also features 8.5 cubic feet of trunk space, which is perfect for a cooler or up to three sets of golf clubs, Boyd said.
The trunk, the first of its kind in a truck, is secure, water tight, lockable and hidden from view.
The Ridgeline is due out in March and sells for $27,000 to $32,000. However, the Ford F-150 remains the number-one selling truck in Texas."
This one got through the radar. Only a V-6 though, so it probably won't take too much from the Domestics and Toyota.

I saw some other pics of this thing
HERE.All I can say is
and more
. Looks like Honda's version of the Avalanche (but uglier, if you can imagine* ). I like Hondas and I bet that V6 is a nice engine, but that truck is, and I'm not sure if I said this,
*disclaimer: the opinions stated above are just that, opinions
