Scotty will chime in here in a minute and want to know how many people you want to be on the bench when he lifts it.

I was more of a squater but I dabbled in the bench. 425 1 rep and 335 8x's. Squat was 750 1 rep but my Indiana high scholl record is 626.

Man, I am gonna bring the average of this thread way down...

I have benched 350 for one rep. But now, it would probably crush me, as I have lost a lot of strength. I have not been able to work out like I used to, and it has taken a toll on my muscle strength. I guess it is time to start eating chicken breasts all day again along with some tuna.

Hold my old high school's squat record with a rep of 745. Quit squatting after that. Scared the mess out of me when i racked it, and almost passed out. Always wondered since then what if I passed out with it on my back. Thank the Lord for watching out for me.

man, and i thought i would set the high mark w/ 335, oh well. this Christmas i was at my cousins house, who is still in high school, and we went to his room to "play" with his new bench. he puts on 200lbs and struggles with 3 reps. he asks if i wanna try and i asked how much weight he had. it was somewhere around 275 and i do 3 reps so i guess i havent lost much strength in 3 1/2 years without working out.

I specialize in 12 oz. curls myself. Still not as big a sissy as a person might reasonable think though. Bought the wifey a book shelf today, and carried it form the truck into the house, all the way to the rear of the house. About 110 ft. all total, and up some stairs. Thought to myself, "Self, that darn thing is heavy!" Got to looking at the package, the stinking thing weighed 130 lbs. Akward to carry too, about a 6 ft. long package.

That is pretty darn impressive!

i dont know many people that can bench twice their weight

i work out with my own body weight, usually warm up with half of it, IE warm up with 75 or so. But with a broken collarbone im kind of scared to work out with more than my weight, the bones still shift..

Before i broke, i weighed in at 140, could max at 225.

Some of these numbers are really impressive!
Squatting over 700 is a feat in itself.

Pressing over double your own weight is a very high level of acheivement!

Back in the day when the powerlifting bug bit and I was 252 pounds I pressed 505 for 3 but I only counted 2 as the last one was sloppy and not complete.
Squat was my weakness after several knee surgeries...I could do 8 reps of full squats to the floor with 645 but the mental block stopped me from a single rep over 700.
Deadlift...best ever 865 no straps, just a belt.
I am at the 700 range right now and seem stuck there. Need to change that.
My gym lifts have not been happening as much after I switched to strongman but that is changing again. I am really liking being back in the gym.

I know leg press is not a real good indicator of leg strength but recently I nailed 24 plates for a set of 10. Each plate is 45 pounds and the rack is 90.
Made my face turn red.

Resistance training will help in all areas of your body...at any age.

Scotty

Wow scotty, Thats an impressive deadlift. I mean bench and squat are impressive but theirs ways to cheat like not going to parallel or just focusing on bench more then anything else. Deadlift no way around it, its either you deadlift or you dont, no 1/4 squaters deadlifting the same amount. You must be a monster, Ronnie coleman's huge doin 800x2 deadlift.

Sad thing, we puny humans dont come close to power, even a 130lb chimpanze can deadlift 1000lbs!! with one hand Kinda killed my short lived ego of deadlifting 300lbs last week.
