What's your blood pressure?
What's your blood pressure?
Well I know this is a place to go for truck advice not medical advice, but I was just curious what other guys are finding?
I was picking a few things up in a drug store yesterday and I took my blood pressure at one of those self serve sort of deals.
I was a little choked when I read the print out.
150/95
Which by the chart on the machine seems pretty high?
I'm 29, 5'10 and 175#

I have severe axiety issues that also invole some white coat syndrome but during and after my accident mine averaged 117-130/70-80. I get very nervous around doctors. I have a fear of something being wrong with me. That kind of fear shows on your top number. I have had my top number as high as 160 when I had my accident but my bottom was 80 the whole time.
I am 29 y/o, 6'2" and 210lbs.
Does high blood pressure run in your family? You been on any cold meds? How many caffine drinks had you drank that day? There are lots of things that can make your BP high. Need to take it several times over a length of time before you can say you got an issue. Getting a professional opinion wouldnt hurt though. That lower number of yours is up there. Anything over 90 is reason to get checked out.

I've been pretty lucky with my health and B/P so far. I'm 39 years old, 6' tall, and weigh within 185-190lbs depending on the time of year. My last physical my B/P was 110/68. I have always had pretty low B/P and my heart rate is usually around 50-60 BPM. I can (if I really try) get my heart rate down to around 40 BPM.
Low stress is what I attribute a lot of my health too. Don't sweat the small stuff.

I was at the Cardiologist's today for a checkup, mine was 110/68 and I am 65 years old, and weigh 219 at 5:11 inches tall. (He said he enveyed me for my good BP). Just a lucky old fart......
tool, check it again a few more times, make sure you sit and relax for a while then check it. If it still seems high see your doctor. I've been taking medication to control mine for 10 years, I cut back to 1 cup of coffee in the morning and I never add salt to my food.
One pill a day and I'm 120 /65
Good Luck

My BP was 140's over 70 and then I decided to get into a little better shape. I have lost about 25 lbs and now it stays pretty steady at 115-118 over 60.

I don't remember my numbers from the last physical I had on the fall but I remember the Doc saying I had one of the best reading he's seen. I'm 6 ft, 220, and 25. I have a good diet except the beer. I'm very active and have always been very athletic.

Any self serve b/p machine is not going to be very accurate. To get the best possible base line blood pressure, it should be taken after a full night sleep upon waking up without the alarm clock. It should be taken while supine. Obviously, this would be difficult at best for all of us.
A persons blood pressure is usually all over the chart during the day, so just because it was 150/90 does not mean that you are hypertensive. Anything you put in your mouth will affect your b/p, any type of stress will elevate you b/p. Going to the docs office will usually give a person the white coat syndrome, thus raising your b/p. Any good health care provider will take your b/p and if they get a higher than normal reading will talk to you about other thing for a little while to get you to relax, then take it again.
A- don't trust any automatic machines.
B- if you are a large guy then make sure the doc or nurse uses the extra large cuff. The wrong size cuff will give very inaccurate readings.
C- Diet and exercise, (no brainer)
D- Stress management, (refer to c)
E- Its hereditary, monitor it closely with you doctor through out you life span, it is "the" silent killer.
I went to the docs yesterday, I have bronchitis and pneumonia, my b/p was taken by the nurse about 10 minutes before the doc had seen me, it was 142/84. After discussion with my doctor about my symptoms and other things he took my b/p again, 126/74, and this is being jacked up on dayquil.
My normal b/p runs 110-120/70-80. I am 5'9" and weigh in at 225#

Mine is usually 140/90 on average, but it's been 150/95 at work. My fiancee is usually around 108/70. Her doctor has her on a Rx to keep hers up. My doctor told me no more salt or caffeine. I won't give up my morning coffee, but need to work on the no-salt thing. I'm 35, 5'8" and 192 lbs. I just quit smoking.
