our HVAC unit is in the FAR end of the house

and it can't heat the ducts/air enough to effectively heat the master bedroom/bathroom on the far end

we have a little electric heater now, but's more of a bathroom heater, not a whole room heater.

it has a clicker, so i turn it on before we jump out the sack in the AM

and of course, the bedroom has a cathedral ceiling, so all the heat rises


the builder SHOULD have put in 2 HVAC systems, but I am too cheap to fix that.

i just want the wife to stop complaining it is cold in there, it is usually ~5 degrees colder than the rest of the house.

slab house or crawl space?
If its on a slab, I would put a couple baseboard heaters in those rooms.
If there is a crawl space, I would go with a radiant floor heat system in the bathroom only.

Have you already insulated the ductwork, and taped all the seams?
I did that with my house last year and it made a big difference.

They also make some fans that go right in the round duct work that helps move the hot air along to the farthest rooms.

heat pump/ electric strips for emergency heat.

yes, i went up and looked at it during the summer, all the joints are tight, and it's insulated duct work.

it's hard to get around in the main part of the attic, it has a cathedral ceiling & deep blown in insulation.

i feel partially thru the roof of my last house. hurt knee for about six months.

built in permanent baseboard heaters sounds like a good idea.
how hard are those?

Thats what I was wondering. If he had natural gas or propane than a Catalytic heater is my choice. My wife loves the one we put in the bedroom.

Is the fireplace on the north side of the house so the winter north wind will keep the rest of the house warm???

always helpful...but never useful!! i would have to wear my thong to watch TV!

no gas or anything on the lot. have a tank for gas logs in the living room, but they are right by the thermostat, so using them made the rest of the house freeze.

the bedroom is too small to do much.

we had kerosene, wood stoves, & all that crap growing up, hate the maintenance.

i am gonna set that ceramic heater for ~2 hours tonite.

we have only been running it ~30 minutes at a time.

by GOOGLE, alot of the folks are saying they run one like that all night, and it keeps 2 rooms warm.

should i put it on SWING (oscillate) or just blow in one direction?
i put it in the bathroom, about a foot inside, and aim thru the door to the bedroom.

i had to clean the insides of the ceramic heater, it is 5 years old, and it was FULL of dust & lint. cleaned it out last week, and you can feel it ~5 feet away.

Pam and Tommy made a video like that once, but I don't think that's the kind of "heat" he's looking for ......

The ceramic should be plenty fine, and then use a small fan to help circulate the air. I used a small electric heater when I was living in the barracks on Camp Pendleton and used it quite a bit until they turned the heat on in the winters, and sometimes that wasn't until almost March.
