Angry What would you do??????

Last night we got together for my sister-n-laws 21st birthday. We all gathered up at a local pizza place for dinner. 99% of the family dont drink so no one left the party drunk.
About 2:30 this morning we get a call from one of my other sis-n-laws that the birthday girl was picked up for DUI. And not only that but she was twice the legal drunk limit. For some reason they did not keep her for the 48 hours that I thought they do. She got her 1 phone call and instead of calling her dad she called one of her other sisters(which does drink).
I am really having a hard time with this one... I hope that the judge throws the book at her and everyone of her friends and family find out about it. Not to be hard hearted but this is the way people get killed because of idiots like this...
If she had called me I might have told them to lock her sorry butt up for a couple of days. Put her in the drunk tank with the other drunks and let her sleep on the cold floor and look at the pink elephants on the wall...
I'm sorry but this goes against the grain big time!

I'm with ya on this one. Tough love is what some folks call it. Whatever it takes to get drunks off the road.

I agree also. I don't drink, but everyone I know does, and I don't care, some people just gotta learn. Just follow the rules.

I don't understand what your question is...but I'm inclined to agree with you. At Christmas I had a cousin on the way to our family Christmas. She was well beyond the legal limit when she "hit a patch of ice" (there was no ice by the way....streets had been dry for days) and rolled her car down an embankment. She was not hurt, but the cops were about to take her to jail when my uncle showed up and convinced them to let him take her. All night long she swore she had not been drinking....but she had the smell of alcohol all over her. I lost all respect for her after that. Stupid and selfish.

Why involve yourself in her mess?
She is suppossedly and adult now, and its between her and her parents, why get into it?
Her dealings with her family is her bussiness......

I have to disagree. The so-called tough love thing doesn't work and will only drive people away and into deeper dispair. Take it from one who knows. If you truly care about your loved ones then keep them close. It's OK to let them know you disapprove and to disapprove strongly but they also need your support and to know that you care and you want them to get better. To simply cut somebody off and walk away tells them that you don't care what they do and they have no reason to alter their behavior.

I don't think anyone here suggested that.

"Tough love" can work though....depending on how you define it. If tough love means spanking my two year old because he did something he was told not to do...then I'd say it works.

Hoss..

You are correct! Even though she is suppose to be an adult..she needs a spanking so to speak. It would have done her some good to stay the night in jail. Yes we do need to let her know that we are disappointed in her choices but you reap what you so. She made major wrong choices last night and now she will have to pay. She also needs to learn that in situations like this she WILL NOT BE SUPPORTED in her actions. But she also needs to know that she still has a family that she can turn to..

OK Don

I quite agree. To many parents don't discipline their kids properly. When they are young I think spanking is necessary. (time for more flames!) Spanking isn't the same thing as beating. Nowadays, people are so afraid of DCF coming down on them they're afraid to properly discipline their kids so the kids turn into delenquints. (sp)

Edwin

We have a rear end warmer here. With 4 kids that are all from me...we need a rear end warmer.

My oldest boy is a 1st grader that fights with 5th graders. He thinks he can whip anyone that calls him names.

The bus driver stopped by Tuesday with my Son in tow. He had just duked it out with a two 5th graders that called him stupid. He said my boy is a 5th grader in a 1st graders body.

Oh boy, here we go!
