What would it cost in your area?

I m sort'a house hunting and got to thinking the other night about all I have been hearing about the differences in housing costs across the country..

The link is to one of the places I am considering, and i was curious what this would sell for in other parts of the country....they are asking $115K...the big advantage to this one is that it is less than a 15 minute drive to downtown and all the state offices and the capitol......

Land 2K to 4K per acre. Larger quantities cheaper. Lots of mixed pasture/woods in our area. Houses are typically 80K to 130K. Lots of ranges to choose from out here in the boonies. Couple of houses just down the road. ~ 10 acres and 7-8 years old.
Lots of LEO jobs available.
PM me and I'll see what I can find.

10 Acres! To many of you that might seem average or small even but here you arent getting 10 acres unless you last name is Spielberg,Joel or Diddy. That house around here on the "standard" 80by100 lot would prob be in the 250K area (very rough estimate, 18 months ago it woulda been well over 300k).....Nice house BTW, and good luck with the hunting!

You could probably pick up something similar out here for a little less .... maybe a little farther from Springfield than 15 minutes.

West Plains area would be a decent spot ... and I know the sheriff was looking for people about 9 months ago when I stopped by .

Added benefit to being closer to the chapter .... instead of being your own satellite .

Cheers,
PISTOL

That house and property would probably go for between 50 and 75 thousand here in Michigan, depending on where in Michigan. In New England I bet it would be at least half a million, due to the acreage involved, (can you say 'sub-division'?)

6k an acre here with the modular, no basement= 60k-72, 000 if there is a lot of junk around. remember, location, location, location. buildings can change!

get a 55,000 annual start salary with state dept of corrections. 8 hours, look good, keep everything clean! no hassle job. big benefits....

executive security is higher pay, less hours but more 'mission' based (escort a guy for 30 hours on a business trip) but you see the Donald Trump stuff...

Troopers always looking for a few good ____. with your experience, you could get an administrative appointment, hit the next academy, then hit patrol. 75,000 to start. &$#@&
glass cowboys..

stay midwest, south for the most rewarding lifestyle. NY will kill ya in taxes.

Good luck ChrisR...

I live in Fairfax, VA. If you sold 10 acres around here, they would knock down that house and make 20 houses. So your looking at probably 2 million.

As an example of my area, I am 90 miles from the state capital, about 40 out of Seattle.

3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Floor space 1,296, Lot size 21,780 Sq. Ft. $249,950 Taxes on this are probably about $2500 year.

Here is a piece of property without a house 14,375 Sq. Ft. $125,000.

At least 350K and the property taxes would kill you, especially if you had a "view". I'm about 60 miles north of Seattle. The more remote areas would be cheaper but anything semi close to the I-5 corridor is going to cost you.
