What happened to Wildcatdiesel.com

I just noticed on the TDR web page that the http://www.wildcatdiesel.com/ has been closed. Does anyone know what happened? Members of the TDR were also looking for answers.

I have not been with Wildcat Diesel since October 1, 2004.

Not sure what else to say.

on edit:

I have been manufacturing my Scotty air intakes, gauge holders and fuel systems all along.

I will continue to do so and most of my products are available at the online DTR store. Research and development of all my products continues.

I have persevered through many issues since the first sale of a Psychotty Air way back in 98.

I have great appreciation for all of the support and friends.

I am here for the long haul...always was and always will be.

I think Phox made a good point.

Rod is busy. This much I do know. Every time we talk he is swamped. Im sad to see him give it up, but he says the business is not what it used to be.

The price cutters on ebay with no overhead and most dont even have any technical support are hurting everyone. Of course most of the parts sold on ebay may not need any technical support. Boxes, etc.

Rod works on several other projects besides the Diesel one. Some on his farm/cow ranch and some in town doing other technical related things. With the Diesel biz not generating the sales it once did....it was potentially the first thing to cut.

Rod is doing well and not exactly happy to be calling it quits.

Thanks for the insight Don. We wish Rod all the best in what ever endevor he under takes. Great guy to deal with. Can't say that I blame him, just the Canadian shipping dutties was probably enough to stiffel any buisness.

Canada not supporting the US in Iraq may have put a big dent in Rod's business. I've heard this from other Canadian businesses that deal with US customers as well. Too bad to see Wildcat go. I was going to get Rod to price match on an exhaust system and drive up to his place and pick it up. Save a pile on shipping and rape from UPS. Guess I'll have to talk to Piers or DTT.

Well, that's just sad. I'm gonna need to find a new diesel shop to fill my cravings... I dunno if anyone else can fill Rod's large shoes?

He was always good at telephone technical support for problems and even better at suggesting what others had done and how the mods worked for them.

Rod managed to put some good running rigs together for folks. Some for reliability and some for high power.

Sometimes the wait to get him on the phone would get some guys uptight, but he always refused to cut a guy short to get to the next sale or grab the other line.

Dang, I hate to see Rod shut down. I will surely miss his honesty and willingness to take time to explain, and give you good solid advice on truck mods. Instead of just selling you a bunch of stuff you don't need.
Rod, we are gonna miss ya man, good luck in your future endeavors.

Dern! Never bought anything from Rod, but I did call to get his opinion on my BOMBing plans. I agree with all of you, He was a great guy to talk to, and his service was excellent. He will be missed as a vendor for great products and better service.

Best of Luck, Rod!

I certainly appreciate the kind words. Thank you very much.

Closing the doors on Wildcat Diesel was one of the hardest decisions that I've ever had to make, but in the long run, I feel that it was the correct one. The reasons are many, some of which I'd prefer not to get into on a public forum.

One of the biggest ones is the difficulties I've had in recent months with shipping from my remote location. It was growing impossible to keep track of drop shipments, and shipping across the border was hit and miss, at least with the affordable shipping options available to me. A large part of my day was spent tracking down lost shipments, instead of doing research, development or sales. All in all, I wasn't able to maintain a level of customer service that I felt was appropriate to my customer's needs.

As Don mentioned, I do have some other business concerns that keep me busy during the day, and with a new fiance and little boy to help look after, I needed to free up some time. Closing Wildcat was definitely the logical thing to do.

I'm still going to be around, goofing around with the trucks, and doing a little bit on the side, just to keep myself current. But I'm mostly just going to revert back to being a happy little DTR member

In closing, I'd very much like to thank everyone who supported Wildcat over the last 3 years. I've made many friends in that time who I hope will be around for a long time to come. Its been a great ride

Rod
