Smile What does it apply to?

I just came accross this phrase and could not help but wonder if it could be applied to any of our discusions.

"Fact mixed with conjecture, blended with error, and expressed with certitude."

I think that is the holy mantra of the media. Of course I could be mistaken because I'm not sure they ever had any facts.

Quick search found the following:

Caruana's Key has been photocopied thousands of times. The exact number, like much of the information in the Gemstone File itself, is beyond verification. The contents are classic conspiracy theory: fact mixed with conjecture, blended with error, and expressed with certitude. Yet the document is so gripping and at the same time so obscure, always looking like a twentieth-generation Xerox, it begs credulity, even investigation.

One of my personal favorites:

Ideology is the mechanism whereby facts are ignored, altered or created in order to protect cherished dogma.

This is big with the "________ RULES" crowd.
