I loved tinker toys. Wish I could find mine. I found my legos the other night and started thinking up ways to build a mock up of a CTD.

Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs, Erector Sets, and Panel and Girder were the things I spent hours at. Guess I should of gone into construction.

now it is hard to find a child with tinker toys, erector sets, etc. I think it is kind of sad for the future

I was an outside kid. I had my toy tractors and the hillside next to our house. in 5 years I had a nice spread of farmland and even a few houses. I used to make front end loaders and hitches for my toy tractors.

I used to use Lego's all the time and my mother used to call me a construction worker. So I told her I had a back injury and started to collect......at the age of 7. Life is good.

Could build a great CTD with Mechano. You could add on the engines, power winches,... (I wonder what you could use for the Turbo..........)

I had a huge Meccano set that was added to every year. It had a great set of gears and motors (electric and windup) so could build almost anything. My father even built me a working stream engine that I could use with it to power things. One thing I built with the Meccano that comes to mind was a fully working model of a drilling rig that could actually drill holes in the ground.
If I had that now it would be easy to build a replica of my Ram. Except it would be green and red. (the color of the Meccano parts) Even the 4X4 would work.
As an adult I built up many Heathkits and even built them for friends that were less talented. Great fun.

Never had most of the other cool toys mentioned, but I had a good set of lego I spent many, many hours building with. I also spent many hours in the summer digging in the dirt and building roads with my tonka construction equipment. Those were some of the happiest hours of my life.
