Went and bought a rifle.....

Well sold that turd of a Neon today for less than we wanted but we were both fed up to our ears with the one or two phone calls, "we'll come see it" and they never do. So we did not make as much money as we wanted, we had $1000 in it and made $1800.

So my friend and I went up the gun store. Well, I went there with something on my mind, found what I wanted and filled out the paperwork. I am the proud owner of a bouncing baby SKS. I also bought a scope and mount kit for it, a little larger magazine if you know what I mean and of course ammo. Came with a sling and is in real good shape. Almost convinced my buddy to buy one but he went with a Savage .22LR to burn of some of the boxes of .22 ammo he has. After I mounted the scope he looked at it and said, "I should have bought the SKS".

So tomorrow I hopefully can stop by my other friends house and pay him and pick up my other toy...the Springfield Armory XD45 that I have been longing to get my hands on. Then in a week or two my bud and I are gonna load up his truck and head to the range. Can't wait to shoot the SKS, have to sight in the scope though.

Told my wife that I had to buy a deer rifle Not that I really ever go hunting!!!

Good luck with your SKS. I have a Norinco paratrooper and I love it. Most people I know with the high cap mags have a lot of malfunctions. Hopefully you will have better luck. Here's a pic of mine. Post a pic of yours if you can.

Better buy your assualt rifles now. There is a bill in congress to reinstate the assualt rifle ban for another 10 years. You wouldnt believe some of the rifles named on the list by congress. The Ruger Mini-14 is on it, the M-1 Garand is on it, the SKS among many others. I think about 60 in all. Just my 2 and a 1/4 cents.

I have a Russian made SKS from the 1950's. Nice gun. It is pretty dang accurate too, for an old semi auto with iron sights. I stuck with the factory magazine. Mine even came with a bayonet! I paid $139 new about 11 years ago. I also bought one of the Makarov 9x18 pistols for about $120 new at the same time. That is a pretty nice pistol too, and also very accurate for what it is. Can't say much for the 9x18 cartridge though. Pretty light duty. The first time i killed a pig I used that pistol with plain ball ammo and when I tried to shoot it in the forehead, the bullet ricocheted off the pig's skull. I dropped him with the second shot behind the ear though, so it wasn't as much bloody chaos as it might have been...

Yeah it's 7.62x39 and in good shape. I'll try and get a pic on tonight. The clear is all rubbed off the wood on the stock and thought a little last night about what it might take to sand it a little and put the clear back on it.

The Russian Nagants (7.62x54R) are reasonable too and ammo is relatively inexpensive. Bought three.

Hey, what's wrong with a Neon? Mine gives me 44 mpg.

Ahh, don't worry too much. With the way firearms laws have been going lately it will be difficult for the anti's to get very far. They may win a battle here and there, but they will never win the big one.

I will agree though.... it is never a bad idea to stock up!
