If its that bad i woulda put er in park jumped out and let er slide away.... Unless i was in the old cummins, then i might have to keep it a float.. haha..

More serious note, i have been in those conditions in a semi (tractor and trailer) Anybody know what its like to watch your trailer slide out and come around and park itself right next to the tractor itself?? That was enough for me, i try to stay off the roads when its that bad...

Dont know if anyone read up but the SUV driver was a 79 year old man.

Explains the repetitive gas punching.

Explains the late reaction time, maybe, but the repetitive gas punching was to try to regain control over the vehicle! Too bad it was too little too late as he could have come through un scathed had he been prepared to do that earlier instead of stomping the brakes and hoping for the best!

Have any of you guys gone out and purposefully spun your vehicle around on ice just to see what it does??

This is what happens when you are not prepared for the icy conditions presented.
