In some states, like Alabama, it's a felony to throw an egg at a moving vehicle. I personally like the run'em down till you catch'em approach, and if they are only slightly injured while you held them until the law arrived, it's OK with me. I have heard that raw eggs are a healthy and nutritious snack.

Lary,

That was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, meaning that I know parents who are afraid that their kids will call CPS to report them for child abuse if they were to spank their kids.

As I said, growing up in north Texas in the 1950s, it was a given that an adult would swat a kid if they caught them doing something wrong. Of course, our teachers and principals had no problem wearing us out as well. Yes, times have changed, but not necessarily for the better.

Yeah . . . I remember having to empty my back pockets in school, go to the front of the class, grab my ankles, and then you would hear it . . . . .the sound of the paddle whistleing through the air (had holes drilled in it) before it landed squarely on my rear end. With all of my classmates looking at me, I looked like this , but on the inside, I looked like this . I thought twice before doing my next crazy stunt.

Even as a kid in Detroit, I never threw things at cars/trucks . . . . I liked them too much. . . . plus my dad would have beat me silly.

Can't say I wouldn't have been PO'd at the little snots too .... but come on ... it's one of those holidays when you know that crap like that is gonna happen ... expect it.

As for someone not raising their kids right ... harmless pranks are what make being a kid so much fun !! It's the knuckleheads that are dropping bricks off of overpasses that have the issues. People die from that stuff.

Not trying to be the "wet towel" of the group ... but when one person writes about doing something illegal in retaliation, making it look like the thing to do, and then a couple more agree with it ... somewhere, somehow down the line one weaker-minded individual decides that this IS the accepted way of handling things instead of knowing that there was sarcasm behind the comment and ends up doing the wrong thing.

Like many of the older in the bunch, I grew up in a community where you were liable to get your backside skinned by one of your parents friends if they caught you screwing up ... but Lary is right ... it ain't that way in most places anymore. In fact ... I know of noone except family who I would allow to take a switch to my kid other than me (even if they deserved it)... let alone a stranger. That person would end up getting more than just a switch taken to him if that were to happen . Not to say that I wouldn't blister my kids backside right in front of them though !!

Back on topic .... FirstDodge ... sorry to hear about your truck ... good drivin skills !!!

That's a politically correct and diplomatic description. I would have used a different description, but that's just me.

I cannot disagree in any, manner, shape or form PISTOL. I will add that these "somewhere's and somehow's down the road" and becoming more common occurence lately. Unfortunately, common sense isn't a learned trait and it is becoming less common nowadays.

Sorry about the truck - hope it washes off easily.

As my wife screams in my ear, my instinct was to put it in 4WD, kick on the 4 KC's and mow the wood fence over that I saw the egg come from. However, the rational part of my brain (very small I might add) took over and I just hopped out and looked over the fence, but you guessed it . . . . no one there. I did go to the house and knock on the door but the guy that answered said he didn't have any kids, but he would keep an eye out.

As I drove away with egg running down my windshield and the side of my new truck, I started thinking . . . what would I have done had I got my hands on those kids??? What would you have done?
I am really sorry to hear about that, it happened to me last week as I was at Jack In the Box and although
I thought I got it cleaned off but it DID ruin the paint on the side of the truck so I will start off the New Year at my insurance company with a claim.

If Eggs were OUTLAWED,
Then only OUTLAWS would have eggs.

That stupid stunt is probably going to cost about $1000.00 to repair.

Maybe they should pass a law making it illegal for a minor to possess an egg, and register all the eggs in the hands of private citizens to prevent this from happening again.
I think I’ll call Sara B. and see if she would like to start a new political action group.
Then we can get this problem of unlicensed eggs under control.

Sorry I should keep my fingers shut. I know that the lady has a very valid reason to personally hate guns the way that she does and she has my sympathy for what happened to her family.

But this was just to good to pass up

I remember throwing eggs as a kid one year. We targeted the house of a kid that we didn't like ... and let em' fly !! Did you know that an egg can bust a house window ?? (neither did I at the time ).

Luckily, the dad was cool when my mom drug me over there by my ear (literally ... 3 blocks away too) to appologize. Haven't thrown an egg since.

this is what is wrong with these animals that some people call their children that have not had a knot jerked in their but so they have nothing to fear.
I have to agree with Blue

It is not "Just an egg"m it is the principle of the matter.
It IS a lack of respect and disipline.
I say switch away

Had a similar thing happen to me a few yrs ago with some kids with paint ball guns. it just so happen that they had frozen them and destoyed the passenger side of my truck and front wind sheild. their parents paid to have it fixed and played it off like it should have been OK for them to destroy Private Property. The parents wouldn't have felt that way if it had been their cars.

Well . . .was able to check my 9:00pm wash job this morning in the daylight . . . looks like I got it all off. No real harm done . . . . this time.

You can bet my 8 yr old son who was in the truck with me at the time heard the lesson about respecting the property of others. He knows that if he grows up and does such a thing . . . . there will be serious consequences. He didn't need me to tell him that (reminders are good), he already couldn't believe someone would do such a thing.

I would hve been a little upset, BUT.....
at the same time, I remember getting a store mannican, dressing it up in a boy scout uniform, sneaking into the local BS jamboree, putting the mannican on top of the tower they had built and torching it...
Thought that was real funny 'till they hauled two men off in an ambulance who got burned trying to save the "kid".........I was 12 then.........

Also remember moving outhouses, painting cattle, and other stupid stunts we kids pulled... and gee, I think I turned out alright......

Kids are kids, dont expect more from them than they are capable of.........

@ the tender age of 13 I had the responsibility of keeping 4 pivot irrigations running 3 of which were in one feild and overlapped; also had 250 head of momma cows and 150 head of hogs to look after. my folks NEVER had a curfue(sp check) had a 4wheeler and a jeep I could goto town for whatever I needed not once did I damage anyone elses' things intentionally or mallitiously I am also a firm believer in the ideal of "Spare the rod and spoil the Child"

We seem to forget that they are children and that they need guidance and structure and every once in awhile they may need an attention getter(ie..BUTT-WHOOOPIN') We are not their friends, we arethe aduls and with that comes the responsibility of leading by example!
