Vapor lock or bad pump

On my 90 caravan the engine will backfire if I give it too much throttle. The longer I drive the less throttle I can use. If I cycle the pump a couple times it helps for a while. Just had a fuel pump put in 6 months ago, but parts store is notorus for selling bad parts. Replaced filter, and the old one flows easy when blowing and system has pressure when I change filter(over 5 times). Any ideas?

I wonder if the tank pickup is clogging? Did you blow back through the line, toward the tank, when the filter was out? If it's carbureted maybe your float is sinking.

Didn't blow tward the tank. How much pressure should I use? I just put some 2-stroke in it and if it still doesn't work I'l blow it. Its injected.

I just put about 19 gal of gas in it and added some oil a few days ago. Monday evening when leaving work it wouldn't go over 15 mph. Fuel filter was plugged. Blew out with air and put back in. Got up to 20 mph before it died and the same thing. Both times it looked like mud comming from filter and rust from tipping filter the other way. How do I filter the gas? Back to driving the 454 . Does blowing air through filter only make a hole bif enough for the air to go through, or should it clean it good enough to use?

It sounds like you got some water in the tank and have a bad case of algae. It looks like black sludge and clogs filters very well. Happens on boat tanks a lot. Does your truck sit a lot with not much fuel in the tank? Or did you get some water at a fuel station? You may have to drop the tank and clean it out then start over with some algecide in the new fuel. Did your water separator get any water?
