Hey all, what a rough 24 hours. Yesterday morning our little dog had diarrhea - no biggie, he has always had a tricky stomach. Then, midday he barfed on the couch. Again, no cause for concern. Then he got me up at 11:45 last night, again major barf and diarrhea. At this point I still wasn't really worried. Now the fun begins. He had me up at least every 40 minutes from midnight until I got up for work at 4:45 am to have a dump in the yard. After midnight, these trips all involved blood. By the time I left for work and left him with my wife, I was sure he was dying. It is worth mentioning that he is just a little guy, he is an 11lb Maltese Terrier / Poodle cross. Ok, insert all jokes here about a guy who is 6'7" and weighs about 230 lbs having a lap dog like that - I can take it. Our vet lives 1/2 a mile up the road and is a very good friend. My wife called her this morning, even though Monday isn't a clinic day. Dear Vet called back a few minutes later and said to bring him right over. DW happened to mention that for the first time ever our dear dog got into the garbage last Thurday and ate a bunch of turkey scraps that had been in the garbage for 3 days. The vet immediately knew the problem. Although it might not be a problem for a bigger and younger dog, our 16 yr old monster has a pretty good gastric infection from the bacteria in the garbage turkey scraps. The blood indicates that the infection is involved in his entire digestive tract. Luckily we called for help before he was very dehydrated. He has been given a monster dose of antibiotics and anti-nausea drugs and a big load of fluids. The vet says this isn't the end of the road and she can fix it, but THAT was a long, tough night. Tonight isn't fixing to be a lot easier, but at least we know what is going on. That better have been a REALLY good turkey dinner!!

Man, furry kids can be really hard on your mental health!!

Holy smokes Tallguy. Glad you got him to the vet and recovery can begin. I feel for you handling a pup overnight with stuff coming out the exits in force and frequency.

You guys going to put a pad lock on the trash can now or what?

Do you have a dump in the yard EVERY morning or was this just because you were there and letting the dog out anyway?

Glad you figured out the problem right away. Jake has a temperamental stomach too, but I'd have been nervous after the first puke on the couch!

You don't have to be bitter just because I refused to give you batteries for your vibrator. I told you I would if we had that size, but I can't send you what I don't have, even if your wife DOES like it better when you have that thing working.

Morning all. It's a chilly 18 degrees here this morning.

VOTE TODAY!

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6th:

1851 - Charles Henry Dow was born. He was the founder of Dow Jones & Company.

1860 - Abraham Lincoln was elected to be the sixteenth president of the United States.

1861 - Jefferson Davis was elected as the president of the Confederacy in the U.S.

1917 - During World War I, Candian forces take the village of Passchendaele, Belgium, in the Third Battle of Ypres.

1935 - Edwin H. Armstrong announced his development of FM broadcasting. (This guy is buried in my hometown, Merrimac MA)

1952 - The first hydrogen bomb was exploded at Eniwetok Atoll in the Pacific Ocean.

1965 - The Freedom Flights program began which would allow 250,000 Cubans to come to the United States by 1971.

1977 - 39 people were killed when an earthen dam burst, sending a wall of water through the campus of Toccoa Falls Bible College in Georgia.

1983 - U.S. Army choppers dropped hundreds of leaflets over northern and central Grenada. The leaflets urged residents to cooperate in locating any Grenadian army or Cuban resisters to the U.S-led invasion.

1984 - For the first time in 193 years, the New York Stock Exchange remained open during a presidential election day.

1986 - Former Navy radioman John A. Walker Jr., was sentenced in Baltimore to life imprisonment. Walker had admitted to being the head of a family spy ring.

1986 - U.S. intelligence sources confirmed a story run by the Lebanese magazine Ash Shiraa that reported the U.S. had been secretly selling arms to Iran in an effort to secure the release of seven American hostages.

1989 - In the hopes of freeing U.S. hostages held in Iran, the U.S. announced that it would unfreeze $567 million in Iranian assets that had been held since 1979.

2001 - Ten people were executed in Beijing, China. The state newspaper of China said that all of the people executed were robbers and killers aged 20-23. (We could take a lesson from China in at least THIS respect)

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Go the extra mile. It makes your boss look like a slacker.

Coffee & ph00 are ready. Today, we have fresh coffee rolls and donuts courtesy of Cops & Doughnuts Bakery in Clare MI. Great people up there and their donuts are like the old fashioned ones my dad used to make.

Morning yall.

Justin, I did get the fitting on the lines and the truck buttoned up. They are holding up and I hope they stay that way. I got photos, I throw them up in the forum. Take care of yourself with the work-sleep thing. That schedule will wear you out in a hurry and then you catch something and get sick.

Chaikwa, voting done. DH and I went the first day of early voting. We're ready!

Ok, coffee machine just finished up, pouring a cup now

Thanks to Chaikwa for pointing out that was a rather unfortunately constructed sentence. To be clear, I was the one going to work and the dog was the one having the dump in the yard.

I read that too but I figured I'd let it slide since you're sleep deprived. Can you imagine the look on the dog's face if you were going in his outhouse???

I wonder if Tallguy scratches when he's done to hide the toilet paper.
