I clicked your link but the story didn't load, just the background page. I saw a tundra dually at the Western Stock Show out here in CO in Jan and posted Pics of it here too.

There's another thread in the General forums . The drivetrain is from a Hino and will never be seen in a production Tundra .

I always laugh as I pass a tundra, thinking, "I could out pull you and for $600 bucks smoke ya in a race. I will never own a "TRUCK" made by toyota.

Hey, it only took them 8.0 litres and two of their trucks meshed together to compete with a 2003 dodge. They're moving up.

A Tundra is a 1/2 ton gasser built to compete with other 1/2 ton gassers . A Tundra will hit 0-60 m.p.h. in 6.1 seconds and hit 94 m.p.h. in the 1/4 mile . The stock Tundra smokes the stock 1500 Hemi in every comparison test I've seen . Watched a Craftsman truck race lately ?

Say what ya want, I still wont buy one. That being said I also dont drive any of the big 3 gassers. Watch, it will take toy no time before their quality sucks also. I also concur with Timmay2.

with diesel on it's way north of $4/gallon, maybe not the best time for a new diesel truck to enter the market place.

I watch the Craftsman Truck series. They look nothing like what is out on the street. And 0-60 numbers and 1/4 mile times don't impress me. Give me a truck that will work for what I want it to do.

I think a lot of mfg's are over rating thier 1/2 tons. Mainly Ford and Toyota by advertising 10,000 lbs tow capacities. This is in the range of a 3/4 ton. I am not sure why they are doing this, but it seems to sell pickups. 80% of the people that buy them never put more than a boat behind them anyway.

Don't bet on that. Toyota has a habit of doing things well. Even their mistakes are done very well.

The advertized tow capacity of most trucks is a good number for sea-level freeway driving. Buyers are scammed, and salesmen will promise the moon. When they load it up and get into the hills (Rockies!) it's white knuckle time. Subtract 1/3 to 1/2 of the allowable load, depending on the truck, for this type of service, or install upgrades.

Maybe more diesels will help everyone jump on the corn-oil biodiesel wagon.

Another on that mkes me laugh is the lady on the commercial when she says, "My Grandfather was a Chevy man, I sure if he was still around he would be a TUNDRA man." Whiskey Tango Foxtrot???? A TUNDRA man NOT a TOYOTA man.

Yup thats right toyota and "man" dont belong in the same sentence together and even toyota and their advertisers know that.
