I'm laughing but it actually sounds great. I get sooo cranked up over "world affairs". It seems every time I turn on the TV I get more and more ticked off. I now pretty much just watch automotive shows and try to avoid news channels. I have high enough blood pressure.

Here are some various thoughts. Some might be popular with this crowd, some might get me a lynching. Oh well, I live so far in the boonies nobody could find me anyway.

-The events pf the Tsunami really ticked me off. We sent over more money than any other nation. We offered more aid. Yet the world cried that we didn't do enough, and we were even asked to leave one country. We still gave aid though. Apparently our money is good enough for them, but we aren't. We send hundreds of millions of dollars overseas to help after a natural disaster. Then, immediately after, there was major flooding in Ohio and surrounding states. The info I could get from the news is that there wasn't enough aid money to help out. BUT THERE WAS ENOUGH TO HELP PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T EVEN WANT HELP???

-Tax spending. I heard about a local person who was given money by the government to get new teeth. He got dentures with state funds because he claimed he couldn't get hired because his teeth were so bad. He received the money and got teeth a couple years ago. He still doesn't have a job. I was involved in a bicycle accident that left me with long term brain injuries (known as a closed head injury). I lost my job, lost my insurance, and couldn't afford to get the treatment I needed to preven other long-term side affects from the injuries. I was unable to get treatment, and there was no aid to me, someone who HAD a job, and contributed into the "system". Nice. I couldn't get treatment for brain injury, but a lazy bum can get new teeth.

-More tax spending. Why is it that we have thousands of inmates doing absolutely in prison, and we have people getting paid big money to pick up trash from the side of the road, doing road repair, etc. Use the minimum security prisoners for other state jobs, and DON'T PAY THEM. Consider it working for room and board. Right now prisoners get PAID for any work they do in prison. We have a local prison, and the workers do woodworking, furniture repair, etc. and get paid for it. Thats B.S.!!! My tax money is payinig for their housing, and they still get paid??? The prisoners can also do highway and other state work. Let them shovel snow to clear parking lots, etc.

-Send home the illegals. I know, this is the subject of the thread, but it cranks me up so much I'll mention it again. Lefties say well they haven't done anything wrong, leave them alone. WRONG!!! They are breaking the law JUST BEING HERE. Thats enough reson to ship them out. When a "deadbeat dad" or other criminal goes in for a driver's license, they get busted. Why can't the illegals?

-Minimum Wage. This is PURE CRAP!!! There should be no minimum wage. If someone is willing to work for $2 an hour, let them. Its supply and demand. If its a crappy job and nobody wants to do it, then the wage will be higher to bait people in. There is no reason the guy who sits on a stool at the entrance to our dump and check for "dump permit stickers" needs to be paid $6-something an hour. (I bet he gets more than that!) I recently saw an employment ad for tollbooth workers, and the pay was $11-$12/hr. Come on, how much skill does it take to take a dollar bill and hand back a quarter??? I have a college degree in Auto Technology, am an ASE Master Engine Machinist, have 6 other ASE certs, and other training...and the local dealer pays $10/hr. Is something wrong here??? Anyway, back to min. wage...the only people who make actual minimum wage are high school kids working part time and elderly people just working to keep busy. If companies didn't have to pay $6-something to someone doing nothing, they could afford to pay the real workers more money.

I have more things that tick me off, but I'm sitting here sweating and tired and I'll have to jump in when I have thought more about it.

There's a lot of work to be done in Lousiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Send the low-life freeloaders down there to "work for food" for awhile.

Yea I walk by the hundreds of homeless in the street with no jobs. Making the entire city smell like a public toilet! If you are homeless and job less in this country is because you are lazy! If you are hungry enough will you work the fields? Ask this "homeless" to go pick some grapes, work in the tomato fields etc. Even better tell them they have a guaranteed job at a fast food place. How long do you think they will last? Or how long before they start stealing from the register?

I have traveled in many countries and seen real poverty, this country has very little REAL poverty the rest is laziness.

I say if you don’t have a job with in 2 months all welfare and unemployment gets revoked unless disabled. And if you have children they should be placed were they will learn to get jobs some day.

I say this with all respect for professionals trying to find jobs in industries where there are few. There is always an exception to the rule!
Homeless may may been a bad choice of words, I realize there are alot of the live off the land folks and many lazy folks, but there are still many people in need of work in some area, I totally believe with the couple months on welfare its not my fault they had 14 kids when they only make $10,000 a year. two kids nearly bankrupt me.

Still however I think both nations give out free bees way to easy, without screening. I have known of several people who get Unemployemnt checks from the government while they are working full time and paying taxes, doesn't anyting ring a bell in the chain of command. oh yah there are to busy recruiting some one else to give money to.

OK Some of us should just join the militia and restart our country again......I agree we need to get our country back. Joblessness would be so bad without the illegals. Doesn't illegal mean against the law? Boot 'em out! I was almost homeless with a wife and a kid, no I wasn't lazy. I was in a car wreck broke my arm in 3 places. We had to move in with my dad for a while. The BEST job I found right before the wreck was $5 an hr. I got no help from any state or govt. cuz I was "american" I'm sure if a had a foreign last name with no legal reason to be here, the US would have gave me a house to procreate, and start another race.

Crobtex, DustyRock, NHDiesel: Any you planning on a secret militia? I'll help!!

Where do I go for the first meeting????

Just to make things clear, I have absolutely nothing against ANY minority or foreigner just because they are foreign or a minority. If someone wants to come into our country and live a productive life, thats great. I welcome them with open arms. Its the ones who come in illegally, have no jobs, multiply like bunnies, etc. that I'm against. The FREELOADERS.

I am also against all types of welfare. And I practice what I preach. After shutting down our business for paperwork issues (one piece of red tape kept us from owning our own business...) my wife and I were unemployed for several months. I know she was eligable for unemployment and other benefits, and I think I was also. But we didn't apply, and won't. Shes now working, and we are still falling behind, but we aren't "on the system". We do what we can. I'm waiting to hear back about a job I just put in for (fingers crossed) and should know something toward the end of the week or the beginning of next. Times are hard, but I at least know I didn't take anyone else's money, and I was looking for work.

I know things are different in other parts of the country, so this may not apply there, but up here it really burns me to hear about the unemployment "problem". I know people with businesses who can't find anyone willing to work basic jobs for $7 an hour. I'm sorry, but if someone is out of work because they feel they are too good for a $7/hr job, I would consider them "not working by choice". I know you can't make ends meet and pay bills at $7/hr, but it goes a lot further than not working at all.

O.K., something else that ticks me off. American's can't celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, and other holidays in many schools these days because of the "culture diversity" or some such crap. But the young terrorist-wannabes are allowed to wear their turbans. Other nationalities force their cultures on us every time we look in a new direction. We are losing OUR culture in the name of keeping THEIRS alive.

Excuse me, but if their cultures are so great, why the he!! did they come HERE? If theirs is the best culture, get out of MY country and go home. If they want to stay here, and be an American, then learn American culture!!!

I'm sure that everybody here knows my stance on illegal immigration. But if I have to post it again, I guess I could...

And just how much aid do you think we'll get from other countries in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina? I wouldn't count on too much. We're expected to give to help everyone else, but you won't see many re-paying the favor.

If you want a job and you don't mind relocating to Canada. Come to Alberta. Our upstream oil sector is experiencing drastic shortages in manpower.
As for wages I think my roughnecks make around 22 bucks an hour and there is a raise coming this fall.

I agree with that 100%. My BIGEST pet peeve is the illegals that come over by the thousands every day, and expect ME to speak spanish to them, at my business. I tell them we don't have anyone that works here that speaks spanish, and generally they leave, and I don't do business with them, because they can't understand what I am saying. Tough crap. Deal with it, or speak english. And Spanglish doesnt cut it for me either. I actually had our cust. service reps call me because I had someone complain that we didn't have any spanish speaking employees. I told the cust service rep that I wasn't going hire anyone to speak spanish, and she could go ahead and tell the guy that. I don't cater to anyone that won't speak the most recognized language in the world.

Gentlemen, its time to review the history books. A little over one hundred and fifty years ago the country of Mexico extended as far North as the Rio Grande River in Southern Colorado and as far west as the State of California.

We "gringos" decided we wanted the land and Mexico was no match for our ambitions. Other than the Alamo, albeit a nobel military suicide by the "Texacans" and their compatriots, we kicked the Mexican governments butt!

Ok, so now, it appears that Mexico has waited patiently for the "payback". The difference is, that this time, they have allies within our own government. And guess what, they have not only won back everything they had 150 years ago, they now can claim victories in every State of our Union.

Instead of calling it the United States of America, we can now refer to this country as the United States of the Alamo.

The problem is not the honest, hard working migrant worker. Its the Mexican and American politicians behind him. And that problem my friends, will never go away!
