Tree's falling everywhere yesterday!(pics)
So i woke up yesterday to some huge winds, and it was still kinda dark out when i left and ran into a big mess of stuff which resulted in me breaking out the chainsaw and going to work on like 4 downed powerlines just to be able to keep going, and there were lines like dangling across the road in places swaying in the wind so u could time them right to drive by, lol . anyway onto the pictures.
This is what I ran into about 50 feet from our driveway
Down the road a 1/4 mile
Then, down the road another 1/4 mile

I did get lots of good alder for firewood out of the deal, lol. I was tempted to just get a chain and pull the trees out of the way, but some were wrapped over the powerlines, and im all for them gettin power back on as fast as possible and I would torn them down to, lol.

Wind Storm
Wind was a little crazy!! We lost power for most of the day, but I had the generator going so it wasn't to bad. Several trees down around here as well, but none on the house! Where about in Bellingham? I'm out in Sudden Valley. Good to see someone local on here!

Thanks for the posting, and the PIX. Lived in western WA for years, and in Sedro-Woolley from 2000 to 2004. Was on the road a lot for work, came down North cascades, and where the turn off to go south toward Seattle, was on that when trees came crashing down. One of the people in a truck had a chain saw,
cut the trees like you did, and we all helped clear the road and drove on.
When we lived on 3rd NW in Seattle, a big wind took out some trees, power lines and blocked the road. Wife and I got out and were stopping cars and redirecting them. Guy said, git out of my wy, I got 4 wheel drive, he charged on a head, got tangled in down power lines, and ended up with the front of his 4 wheel drive up about 4 feet off the ground.
Be safe out there.

Box5 where are you located in Bellingham? I've got a place at Maple Falls wondering how bad it got hit. I guess I might have to head down on the weekend to see if everything is all right!

My son and DIL were out for a hike in the woods on Whidbey during all those winds. They heard trees popping all that night hoping they were falling in the woods and not on the buildings. Blocked driveway - - had to 4wd out in the morning thru the woods to make it to the ferry. Now he can fire up the saw this weekend and refill the firewood bunkers. Had to run the generator for about 6 hours before power kicked back in. What was that someone said about storms in Florida???

You might want to check it, because I just walked around our property, and 3 huge cedars were torn from there roots, like 50 year old trees, so they werent small and the wind was pretty nasty out this way. Although maple falls is kinda in that valley area so it should have been sheltered somewhat. We live in a valley to but the wind comes straight from the ocean to us.
