Ok, If you have caught any of my recent posts, I am looking to repower my 90 F150. The engine is a 302 (5.0L) EFI with a auto tranny with OD. The cast numbers on the side say RF 58 7606. I cant find a plate on it. The pan on the bottom of tranny says Ford Metric. I am looking to put a 4bt Cummins in the truck and was wondering the capacities of this tranny. I believe it is also known as the AOD?

Also, but a very long shot, if I don't get the ford running, I might buy the 87 Suburban from my parents. It has the 700R4 tranny. I was reading a Chilton and it said that there are 3 trannies for this application, Turbo 350, 400 and the 700R4. It is NOT the turbos, so I am guessing the 700R4. Any info on this trannies capabilities?

The 4bt has 150 hp.

I am browsing the Cummins 4bt Forum and getting alot of info. But I want to hear from you guys here too.

The 700 will be an OD, the 400 will come in the heavy duty applications like 3/4 ton or behind a big block.

The 400 is the strongest and the 700 is an OD version of the TH350. The 700 and 400 are the same length and approximate size. They are pretty easy to identify, google is your friend.
