Torch Brazing Without Oxygen

I have an acetylene bottle but no oxygen bottle. The rig is set up to run without oxygen but I cant seem to get my brass fittings hot enough to take the filler rod. The filler rod will hardly melt. Im curious what Im doing wrong. Im not familiar with the set up so Im sure Im missing something. Any help is appreciated. I cant get the carburizing flame.

That setup is probably for soldering pipes not for brazing.

What you have is a B-tank, and is used specifically for soldering copper pipe. If you get a mapp gas torch, you can solder small parts together using 95/5 silfoss, but if it is much larger than 3/4" pipe you can blow it off.

I wish I was as fine, as those who work the pipeline!

If you are still having issues or need to figure things out, PM BlakeClark. He is a welding inspector and very happy to help out.
