Ya know, a couple of those side by side buried like that would be nice. Wonder if I could get one slid under my house without the neighbors noticing...

One day, when I'm a grown-up, I'm going to have a big underground enclosure...

you can buy them fairly cheap. I like Fronty's idea of a couple side by side.

I'm going for a mineshaft under my mountain top home into a livable area complete with greenhouse and a water treatment plant...

If I ever get enough room to be able to set containers, I was thinking two cans about 15' apart with two cans on top. kinda like an open breezeway barn.

We have two almost 19' apart we're working on putting a roof on right now.

I'd do an underground storm shelter out of one of them if I could figure out how to keep the water out. Average water table at our place is at about 3 feet.

Up here the water table is almost as high as the kitchen table in some places.

What I have considered is to buy an old farm yard/land that has a house with a concrete basement. Take the house down and reinforce and repair the basement where needed. Add weeping tile around the perimeter of the basement and go from there. All of this could be done while building a new home close by. I would consider access from the home via concrete conduit as well as top side stairwell.

If I was to do geothermal and a basement on the new home, that would be the time to do all the excavating and landscaping.

Every house in tornado ally should have something like that! I would love to have one just to get out of summers heat!
