Just curious as to what brand of tools everyone prefers. I will buy the cheap ones sometimes but I usually go with Craftsman. I pick up alot of tools at flea markets and pawn shops as long as they are American made.

I have good luck with my Huskies from Home Depot.
Their warranty is as good as anywhere, I've found so far...
However, their pliers are TERRIBLE. As in, unusable terrible. What Home Depot has in their tool section is regional, and I've seen a few high-quality pliers, but the ones I got stuck with have terrible grips and do not like to maintain an edge...

A couple of months ago I bought like a 50 piece tool set from walmart. It had 1/4" drive sockets and 3/8" drive sockets in standard and millimeter. It cost $5....good deal right? I guess I should have known better. I was using it today and I sheard in half the 3/8 drive 3" extension and the 1/4" to 3/8" drive adapter. What I piece of junk! But I still have 48 pieces left!

I used to prefer Mac but lately I have been buying Cornwell. I believe that Cornwell has as good or insome cases better than Snapon or Mac but they cost less. Besides my Snapon guy was being a Turd about warantys.

Mostly Craftsman. Its hard to beat walking into any Sears with a handful of broken tools only to walk out with shiny new ones a few moments later. I've worked in a few garages and if something broke, I replaced it with Snap-On or Matco...whoever came around. I'll have to admit, though 60 bucks is a lot to pay for a standard 3/8'' rachet, there IS a difference. For what I do (mostly side work) Craftsman is a great compromise. It's a quality tool at a fair (but getting pricey lately...) price. I have a MAC bottom box and a Snap-On top box. The set 'kinda' matches...they're both probably 30+ years old. Put a front axle in an F-250 for them Gotta-have-it tools (which I usually need on a Sunday) have come from just about everywhere.

I've got 2 sets of 1/4" SK and a set of 3/8" SK. They are great. I'm gonna own a set in 1/2". Most of my stuff it MATCO, I've got 2 sets of gearwrench wrenches. They are great. Craftsmens are great and I have alot of their stuff, I cracked a socket(1/2" with like a 4ft braker bar) and went back they gave me a new one. You cant beat that. But anything that I get new comes from my buddy at MATCO.

Do any of yall ever buy anything from McMaster-Carr? They carry lots of brands and have the biggest selection I have ever seen. We buy a lot of hard to find tools from them (the co. I work for buys them for the job). There website is very user friendly too.

I buy stuff from 'em all the time. Anything and everything you could ever need all in one phonebook sized yellow catalog. Of course my mom works for them and I get everything at cost so that's a big plus...

thought someone said Sears was being very **** about replacement now,
you have to have a reciept & stuff?
being able to replace stuff is nice, (wally world and Kcrap all have some brand of tools with a lifetime warranty) but it would be nice if they did not break at all, and crush your knuckles, on Sunday, when you need the car to get to work tomorrow...
i like craftsman, though. middle ground between quality & price
