Tips on installing Hardwood maple flooring

I put Maple in my house when I built a few years ago. I tried the pneumatic nailers and they wouldn't work. Maple is VERY hard and the nailer ( I tried 3 different nailers) didn't seem to want to drive the nail all the way into the board on a consistent basis. About one in four would not completley seat correctly. . I ended up using the good ol' manual nailer.
