This was intended as a bit of humor but also to open up that as the politicians want us out of Iraq that there are more dangerous places to be.

There are people that support us getting out of Iraq for whatever reason but apparently by the number of military people who end up back over there they must see some good coming out of their sacrifices.

While I served for 20 I personally did not see any combat. I did pull patrols on the Korean DMZ and on a few occasions had my name on the manifest for shipment to the newest danger zone. I stand by and support the idea to remove many of the problems that existed under Sadaam and from what I hear on the radio from returning service members they see a lot of good coming from it.

On edit: What this boils down to is that the World is a dangerous place.

I can't help but notice it is always the same few misguided individuals who cause these threads to be shut down. Not because of their belief's but only because they try to steal the threads to suit their own political agendas.

It is becoming obvious to me that the only way to cure this problem is to limit those individuals abilities to post here. Since they are obviously only doing it to try and start arguments or steal the thread, I feel no obligation toward trying to reason with them.

All this is made obvious as they themselves allude to the fact that they know their actions will get the thread closed. If you don't care, then don't expect me to.

You know who you are, and the ban button is in the ready position.

What's even scarier is our own government trying to force it's religious beliefs on ALL the citizens.

Do the rules about profane of otherwise explicit language cover voicing your personal thoughts now?

As if some members intend to hurt or infringe upon the rights of others?

I meant no harm if the broad threats are aimed at me..........................

Absolutely not, as I stated in my post, it isn't about a difference in opinion, it is about those individuals who post things with the intent to hijack a thread. They do so full knowing they are wrong, that is why they also state that they now know the thread will soon be closed.

The actions are intended to shock and or elicit a response they hope will cause the thread to soon become closed simply because they do not agree with the original statement. It is an action showing a complete lack of respect for any other opinion than their own, and it gives them joy to try and rock the boat.

Anyway, the original "thought of the day" seems to be a litle inaccurate. Rumsfeld stated yesterday that the MOST troops on the ground since the beginning was 160K, tough to average out to 160k when thats the top #.

The Humor side of it is just that. Take DC and Baltimore, they are disaster areas!
My wife sometimes finds herself in scary situations just trying to get gas in the city. Its a popular thing for pre-teens and teenagers to ask you if you "have any money" (which if you asked around my house they would laugh in your face).
Last time this happend, the kids (after being told "No") walked around the outside of her car whispering to each other while she pumped gas. Makes me nervous just talking about it.
Gun "Control" is a joke. I'm suprised that it still exists to the extent that it does. One more instance like the one a few months back and she'll be packing a .380 just to feel safe going back and forth to work.

That is an EXTREMELY dangerous situation you wife is in Is there someplace else she can make her fuel stops? I know it can be a real pain but maybe you need to take her vehicle every night and fuel it up for her?.

You need to be very proactive under these circumstances, we don't want you or your lovely wife to become a statistic. Not trying to tell you how to live your life, just tossing suggestions in hopes of helping to avert a tragedy.

Some thoughts on the Iraq versus DC security situation. IMHO the state should pay all DC citicens the same amount of armor, weaponry and ammunition the average US soldier in Iraq has at his disposal. Then close the borders (to DC) and wait till it's sorted out

(OK this post is intended in a humorous way, for the ones toooo tight to notice )
