Things to look at in Google Earth
I think your right about the underground testing.. a lot of detonations and money to get the payload just right... Off course I have no idea what I'm talking about, just a guess.
And thanks for the info on the plane yard. Good to know.

I believe (but could be wrong) that they used old mine shafts to test them in.
There was still a lot of fallout, southern Utah residents recently (in the last 10-15 years) got a big settlement from the government for unusual cancer rates.

I thought the "fly through" of the Grand Canyon was neat, and so is Canyonlands National Park.
I have never been to NY, so that was neat to look at it in 3D.
Rocky Mountain Nat. Park is also intersting to look at from "a birds eye view"
What I enjoy the most tho is looking at the places I lived as a kid and seeing the changes.

Container ship doing a pirouette in the water.
While your in the area, an odd artifical islan/underwater tunnel emergency access point
35°29'29.29" N 139°50'04.27" E
Or what looks like a plane wreck on top of a road.

Nothing spectactacular, but here's my favorite place to go shoot pistols...

It's a dried up pond near my parent's house (just down the road). The dam makes a nice backstop, but we usually shoot towards the northeast and use the bank and hill as a backstop.
