Test drove the new Chrysler 300.
With the HEMI.
Actually I was very impressed with the ride although I only took a short ride. This thing has massive power compared to my wifes 300M which isn't to shabby powerwise either. Rear wheel drive was nice. Very firm leather seats turned out to be quite comfortable. I am not sure if I like the new body style yet as it is rather large and boxy looking. My wife hated the looks of it although I think it would grow on me. Test drove the Pacifica also which my wife liked better.
According to the salesperson the 300 is built on a Mercedes E? class chassis with alot of Mercedes type engineering or something to that effect. Sticker price was 36 grand. Seemed like alot of car for the money., anyone else test drive one yet or care to comment on how it adds up to a Mercedes?

I would rather have a 1961 Chrysler 300G with the cross-ram intake and two 4-barrels big enough to suck a small kid into !!!!!
Now THAT was a car !!!!
I like the looks of the new 300. I'll bet the Hemi really wakes it up.

The new Chrysler 300 looks like a copy of a BMW or Mercedes.
Chrysler should have come up with a unique look.
RWD is terrible for snowy climates. Last winter I saw a guy driving a BMW RWD with Florida plates during a snow storm. The rear end was sliding all over and I'm suprised the car hadn't been in an accident yet.
I rarely drive my Ram 3500 if there is snow on the roads. Especially with the duals, the rear end will slide all over if I'm not extremely careful.

I, for one, am glad to see manufacturers are designing some rear wheel drive cars again. None of these little FWD barf-buckets really excited me. I was starting to wonder when they would start trying to slip some front wheel drive frameless fullsize pickup trucks into the lineup. Imagine a 5.9 CTD stuffed in there sideways, coupled to a "beefed up" A604 transaxle like momma's caravan.
Belfert,
I used to have a Ford thunderbarge turbo coupe among other cars when I lived in Mpls years ago. That was Rwd and terrible during the winter, but I don't need to worry about winter traction anymore, besides I think they have computer controlled traction and are possibly balanced better than in years past.
Torquefan, you wouldn't have to worry about traction with a FWD Cummins powered truck. Now that would be an interesting concept.

I believe I read in an auto magazine a while back that Chrysler had said something like now that Chrysler is part of Dailmer and so is Mercedes that they would love to put some of the same enginering from Mercedes cars into Chrysler cars.
Can't think of the name but the little 2 door Chrysler sports car that is out now I think uses the Mercedes SLK frame. So it is possible that the E class frame is used on the 300!!

All wheel drive sounds nice but check this out why I slip into my flame retardent suit.
The Cadillac CTS-V is supposed to be a limited production version and will sport a LS6 engine with 400 horsepower and 390 ft lbs of torque. 0-60 times are supposed to be 4.6 seconds.
Haven't had the opportunity to drive one yet but I got the brochures on the Escalade and the CTS. The wife is now refusing to trade her 300M for another car and is insisting on either the Escalade or the lesser expensive Durango or Pacifica.
I think I am pretty evenly split between the CTS and the 300C if I can just get her to change her mind.

We drove the Pacifica and really liked it . It is nnumber one on the buy list now. It's hard for me to find a car to fit in I am 6'10" 255# so room is always a prob.. But we are holding out to see the Magnum. It's the Hemi powered wagon that looks tough. You can check it out here.

Wife wants one in the worst way. I'm not gonna argue just because of the simple fact that YOU CAN RECOGNIZE IT! Ever since those rat B******* at Ford came out with the Taurus, passenger cars have been almost impossible to tell one from the other. I think they're a good lookin' car, and with rear wheel drive and 340 horse, how can you not love it?

I loved it. Sure a lot more stable on the road and a LOT faster than the wife's TownCar barge. And the Crossfire is awesome - - a neat car for the money.
Popped in a pic of the new Ram Viper business department - - boy, that is neat, too. Chrysler has some neat stuff going on right now.
