How are the system backups going to be handled, Raid / Jbod ?
Well, the internal drives are RAID 1 for the os and main files, and Raid 5 for the site and databases. The backups are done to the SAN. So there is an HBA inside the server connected to a 2gb Brocade switch, which is in turn connected to a Clarion Disk array, and also a Dell LTO tape library.

All internally with a some type of removable media to archive?
How are you set up as far as time on your UPS before you shut down?
The whole datacenter is UPS and always has been. the server is not directly connected to a UPS because there are 8x 160Kva UPS's inside the center. The generator is an Onan 825kw unit powered by a QST30 and starts and takes over within 7 seconds of an outage. It has a 3000 gallon tank and contracts with 3 fuel vendors who have to respond within 24 hours of being called per contract.

Have you ever figured out what happened to to cause the crash or was it one of those "It was just it's time" situations.
hard drive failure

Are we going to get any more space to post pictures or will that stay the same?
Wondering. Jim
It will stay the same. A photo editor can do a lot of good

BTW to everyone who was involved in the big adventure, THANK YOU.
you're welcome

No, I will not be turning on attachments until I upgrade to a different version of forum software. The current version puts them in the db, where the newer version will leave them as flat files. A much better system that way. You'll see improvements over the next couple of months.

I got a couple of pages of garbage a few minutes ago. Haven't seen it since but I had to close my browser and open it again. The garbage was just random lines of characters all over the screen.

Otherwise it seems to be a little faster.

Definately MUCH faster The numbers are great compared to the old server, which by the way was flawless for 3 years except for 1 hard drive failure immediately after we ordered the new server

That was me turning on output compression. The page loads should be a bit faster now.
