Temp Tags Expire on 13th, Question

Looking to plan out my next few weeks and of course the BMV isn't open right now so I thought maybe you guys could answer my question.

I'm up at school right now, several counties away from my permanate address, Do I have to purchase plates from the BMV in my own county or am I able to buy them in the county where I am currently attending school? I'd rather not make the drive if I don't have to.

Thanks.

Don't know how it is in OH but here in IND we are supposed to go to the branch where we live this is because of the tax monies that get credited. Now that said I have used ones in other counties because the local one was so dang busy... No one ever complained. I say try it and see what happens worst thing they can say is your in the wrong branch and send ya pack'n

In VA were supposed to go to the DMV near us but they never really say anything if you go to a different one.

I guess its different out there, but I picked up my permanent tags from the dealer. Well actually they "forgot" to order them so I drove around w/ dealer tags for 2 weeks

I'm thinking you have to go to your permenant residence deputy registrar so they can calculate the proper taxes. However, I know that I can renew my plates online at www.oplates.com each year so they must be able to credit it to the right tax district. I don't have to go in to the BMV to get the stickers or plates. You'll probably have to go down there and wait a few hours in line to know the real answer.

i'm pretty sure we are allowed to use any bmv i know you can renew your license and take the drivers test in different counties, so i don't see why you couldn't register it in a different county. if anything just get another set of 30 days til you get back home.
