Do Classifieds ever expire?

I was just looking through the classifieds and I notice that some of the dates go way back(ex.Mon October 16, 2006 8:02am) and I was wondering if the adds ever expire?

The seller sets the expiration date.

What the maximum time the seller can set, because some of the adds are almost 2 years old.

As your add gets close to expiring, the site will send you a renewal notice. If you click on one link it will end the ad. If you click on the other it will extend it for a certain amount of time. It will do this over and over until the seller clicks on the sold tab.......

Thanks, It just seemed odd that some items are still for sale after almost 2 years.

Why is it set up that way? I kinda of a bummer when you see some that you like and then you look at the post date and it's like a year old.

It would be kinda nice to have the adds expire after say a month to keep the items current.

Plenty of stuff does not sell so the seller keeps the ad running. Try contacting sellers with ads still running. I have done it and been surprised that the items were still for sale several months later...
