You are absolutely correct. Locks only keep the honest people away. And if yours goes missing just go "shopping" at the local mall....

Lately they just shoot you in Detroit if they want anything you've got. Are you sure you wern't on the outskirts they just practice on tailgates on the fringes

I simply put a hose clamp on mine just after I bought the truck. Only makes it harder for someone who wants it, but on the other side of the coin, it's cheap insurance.

When I bought my truck there was a set of tailgate locks on it. looked like they might actually work by holding the gate up. Since it also had a fifthwheel gate on it, I took the locks off. Maybee some idiot will steal the dumb windgate and then the wife will let me get a real tailgate. When I do get a real gate, the locks are going back on.

Ahh alarm systems....set it off at 2am. Hide in the bushes. Set if off at 210am. Hide in the bushes. Set it off again at 220am. Watch owner disarm it because he thinks there is a fault with the system. Steal truck/tailgate/whatever. Yep alarm systems. BTW typing in caps is YELLING. Thanks.
