Swift Creek is rising, Jack...

Looks like the remnants of Kyle are trying to single-handedly erase the rainfall deficit here in central North Carolina. Our esteemed administrator on this site lives close to one of the more flood-prone creeks in this area, Swift Creek. Of course, he is up the hill a ways so he should be alright.

Woke up to the sound of a major downpour last night, drove to work in a steady rain at 6:30, and then it really started pouring about 8 AM. The major waterway snaking through the city of Raleigh is now out of its banks - this after setting record low flow rates in the last few days.

The road about a mile down from where I work is under water, they have been evacuating low-lying buildings around the RDU airport, and the main road in the Research Triangle Park is closed.

Somebody turn off the faucet.......

Tomorrow is the opening day of gun season in Eastern NC - I don't want to have to wear waders to get to my stand.

Reckon I'll go home early to beat the rush. I can now commiserate with the guys in the Gulf Coast area that got nailed by the last two storms.

Y'all have a good weekend - I'm on Fall Break from school and huntin' season is here.

My sister lives around Level Cross. I just talked to her, and she told me they had over 7 inches in the guage in the past 18 hours or so. They're supposed to cut hay tomorrow... :

I got caught today in traffic on the way to work, went through a couple of puddles. You could either call me brave or stupid, but here I am. We needed the rain so I don't miind it.
