I wouldn't dismiss it as a scam so quick. The USPS provides such lousy and incompetent service to begin with, it's entirely possible this is legit!

Just for shiggles, I ran the tracking number thru the USPS web site. Here I got:

Track & Confirm
Your Label Number:
U722073364NU

Your Item Status:
There is no record of that mail item. If it was mailed recently, it may not yet be tracked. Please try again later.

Eh? Hmm, call up the usps hotline. Might be worthless like many hotlines are,but just in case it is a scam, just try to verify it is really from usps.

The biggest clue is the Nigerian accent in the wording. Next clue is that the name of the file in the zip folder.
Label_Parcel_US384219N.exe

I might have been born in the country, but I'm not dumb enough to run it. Virus scanner didn't find anything in it. I will forward it to Kaspersky for analysis. It would look like a label to the average user with Mickey Softs default hide the extent method of file name display.

Next clue is the return path for the e-mail, found in the mail header.
Return-Path: <cherubini-php@dadapro.com>

That fact is also pretty hard for the the average Mickey Soft Outlook user to uncover.

Running a whois query on it finds dadapro.com in firenze, IT. IP address is hidden. Don't think the USPS has anything there.

Inbound mail was through q-mail. Track is lost there.

x-mail yielded the source address.

It pings.
it is in Italy.

Dis joker is messing with the wrong dude. Ve shall see what happens to daddpro.com in Italia

Scanned with Kaspersky, no virus found.
Submitted to KL for analysis, got ID immediately in return
Noticed my AV updating as I did that.
Rescanned and got got the hit
detected: Trojan program Trojan-Dropper.Win32.Dapato.bbke

So this one hit the database overnight. Be careful, be very careful.

Ive run into our local USPS office "not being able to find" a package. Every time that happens, about an hour later, one of the trucks will stop and stuff a package in the mailbox or sit it by the door.

It takes between 6 and 8 days to get a letter from Michigan to Massachusetts or visa-versa. It used to take 'only' 4 days. And 'Priority Mail' is a minimum of 5 days from anywhere TO anywhere. I don't know what the priority is, but it sure isn't on getting something delivered in a timely manner. The last time someone used 'overnight' delivery via the USPS to send me something it took 3 days. I can give them a pass on that tho... they don't specify WHICH overnight!

Obviously you folks haven't spent any time overseas. With few exceptions, mail overseas is covered wagon stuff compared to the jet age lightning fast USPS.

They have been better in the past, no doubt about it, but it's still decent by world standards.

If I wanted covered wagon style mail service, I'd move overseas. This is the USA and we always USED to have decent mail service. It shouldn't take 6 days for a letter to go 900 miles. Even a letter going across the street now takes 2 days because it has to travel 100 miles north of here to a major sorting hub then come back to the PO it started at. Ridiculous!
