Stereo question
Stereo question
I have a 4/3/2 channel hi output amp. I am wondering if I run the low pass signal from the sub out off the deck and split it to both channels bridged if I will get low pass to the dual voice coil sub from both sides of the amp? I think it will work but I thought I had better ask before I do this.
Normally, I can run two pairs of spkrs [4], one pair and a single voice coil sub [3] or a pair of spkrs [2] bridged.
Afterall, if I am running only low pass, it should run low pass to the sub, correct?

If I understand correctly your talking about a RCA jack dedicated for a sub amp from the head unit? If so this gives you control of your sub amps output via your haed unit ( I have this feature on mine and it works great when your amp dosent have its own remote) I dont think that has anything to do with the signal (low or high pass) to the amp, your amps (or seperate) Xover will convert the imput signal to the frequency you want. Some of my 4 channel amps have the abillity to run 2 bridged channels low pass and others dont. Many amps I have seen dont have the ability to bridge all 4 channels. After reading your post again I realy dont understand your ??? are you asking if you can biamp the woofer( one channel to each voice coil)? I wouldnt recommend it. Can you not just run the coils in parellel and pull the amp down to 2 ohms on the one channel?

I got some Y plugs and ran the sub out signal into the left and right of this amp...bridged from 4 channel now...The sub is a dual voice coil and I ran the positive and negative of each to one voice coil. I used a meter to match the gains on the amp for each side and it worked awesome!
I talked to a stereo shop here and as long as the crossover feature is off, the amp will play whatever signal it gets...hence low pass from the deck...sub out.
Then I hooked up an old Alpine 757 bridged to another 12" dual coil sub in Megs' car...and we have some good sounds in the vehicles.
My JL 1/500 still beats these ones...and sounds awesome with one JL10W6...and I am adding another one next week.
huh? what?

It's just the Cummins Hummin' is all the music I usually listen to.
Went for a drive with the Wifey last night to make a fuel run.
'Bout 15 minutes down the road she asked me if my radio was broken.
I realized I hadn't even turned it on in the last week.
I got a new gadget for my stereo: www.neurosaudio.com
I need to tear the dash apart and get some RCA plugs wired into the AUX input on my Clarion stereo, but I'm waiting until I install some gauges so I can do it all at once.
With 30gb of space, I can carry weeks worth of music in my truck. It also records from Mic or Line-in (I'm using it to record rarities from vinyl and old cassette tapes), has a built-in FM Modulator so I can play it through any radio, and the latest firmware includes a ripoff of Tetris (for traffic jams
).
Beats the snot out of the iPod.

The Key to Dual Voice coil subs is to have the same voltage on both inputs. Different voltages on the input of the sub will have the sub fighting its self. If the impedance of each voice coil is 8 ohms then you can wire it in parallel to get 4 ohms and bridge your amp to a single channel output.
What is the impedance of your sub?
You said you only have 4/3/2 outputs. If you were careful to match the voltage output of two channels to each input of your sub it will work nicely. The other option is to use the 3 channel mode and use one channel for your sub and the other two for your front our rear speakers.

I usually just play the Andy Griffith theme with the turbo.... sometimes I get motivated and play smoke on the water with it, but then all the honking starts to interfere with my concentration.
