Steer Wrestlin

anyone ever done it?

Did you like it, or was it something that you would rather leave to someone else?

I have been thinkin about gettin into it, but wanted to hear of any tips or learn something about the rules if anyone can point me to the right place to read...

what I was wondering was, what is the average size animal that is used?

It seems they appear to be about 8 months old when watching the PBR Rodeo's on TV.

I have never done this nor tried it, prolly will break all 4 limbs first time I do it, but I will see.

Do you have to take them down like they do on TV, or can you use your own method? I have been watching, and have a technique that I think would work better.

Now THAT...I'd like to see! I sure hope you two whipper snappers are younger than I. I think bulldoggin' at this point in my life would take too many years off my longevity. Heck, 160 bales of hay two weeks ago and #3300 of grapes this last weekend almost killed me. I'm only 32! I shouldn't feel like I got hit by a train every morning! You bulldoggers are going to hate life for a while when you start.....please send pics!

I'm pretty sure the National Champion Bulldoggers would tell you to learn their technique. If your way was really better, I'm sure someone would have already figured it out and be using that in the PBR, you think? The best way to dog 'em is a .22 between the eyes and a nice hot grill with pickles and onions and seasame seed buns!

Yeah, but they ain't crazy like me. I am willing to risk bodily injury in the most insane way to find a loop hole, or quicker way to get em down. Oh, and by the way, I like pain...

I'm not too small either...

get injured and you cant compete anymore. you'll do your new way, get hurt and everyone else will still be doing the "old-fasioned" way. how big are ya? most steerwrestlers are over 6' and 200lbs

I wrestle the dog down sometimes and hog tie him. That's hard enough, I wouldn't want to get a hoof in the groin wrestling a steer that's for sure. I like the grill idea.
