Springfield Armory XD
Any of you have one? Shot one?
I'm thinking about a new "plastic" pistol to replace my Glock 17 and my Kimber is way too nice to pack around.
I've been looking at a .40 cal in either the service model or the tactical. I'm thinking the service would be easier to carry as it's a 4".
The prices are great on em and apparently they shoot every bit as good as the Glocks.
What do you guy's think?
edit- I did a search and read some info.... guess I shoulda done that first :-

Re:Springfield Armory XD
I have a Springfield XD40 Service model and love it. Very accurate. If you did a search, you probably seen the link I posted comparing the XD to the Glock 17. All in all, the XD was equal if not better than the Glock 17. Get one, you will love it.

Great guns and a very good value. 8)
The only down side is avalibility, I've been looking for a 3" Sub Compact .40cal for 3 months and no one has them.
Sprinfield says it's a customs problem and that they can't get the parts shipped into the country.
I good friend has a 4" .40cal and it shoots almost as good as my Kimber at 25 yards, once you step out to 50 yards there is no comparison but I do like the gun, it points really good and his will feed any thing he puts in it.

Re:Springfield Armory XD
I have an XD40. The best shooting handgun I've ever had. Shoots better than the two Glocks I've owned...although I still have my 17. I just like the way the gun feels in my hands better than a Glock. I'm not the man to talk to about holslters though...I've only concealed this one in a fanny pack.
No problems with hollow points. Actually, no problems with any ammo. I've got about 1500 rounds through without a jam. For target practice, I shoot cheap Winchester ammo, but I've also shot 100 Federal Hydra Shok's through it without a problem. That's my personal defense ammo of choice since the local police and the sherriff both use it...figure I can't get in too much trouble that way.

If you've been happy with your Glock, why not go with a Glock 22 or 23??

Thanks Monty ;D
You have any problems with feeding hollow points?
Rust issues?
Also- what holster do you have for a C.C?
[/quote]
No feeding problems so far. Although I have only ran Hornady Hollows. The rest being FMJ's. I have seen only one spec of rust on my slide when I didnt wipe it down after use and let it set for a day or two. Wiped it right off and began using Militec-1 and have not had any problems since. If you want a free sample of the Militec..you can get it at http://www.militec.com
I have a Reily Gilmore Shoulder rig as well as a Tucker Gun Leather Texas Heritage IWB tuckable rig coming. I try to stay away from Kydex, I like leather better.
Thanks Monty ;D

Mainly the cost- Glocks are way over priced I think. This pistol also has a grip safety, which I think is a great idea.
I ordered an XD .40 today- hopefully it's a shooter ;D
Thanks for the info guy's.
