To combat $5.299 diesel here in the SF Bay Area, I've been commuting on my DRZ400S (45mpg) and my Audi A4 Avant (23-28mpg).

Me, I'd sell the bike and the car to pay for the diesel to drive the truck. In fact, I'm ditching the Audi next week (returning the lease early) to free up $500/mo. That way I can fill up 3x more per month with Chevron's finest. No way, no how, would I sell the Dodge. I made that mistake with my '03.

My diesel truck would be the last vehicle to go at my place. In fact, I'd sell the Ford gasser truck I have first, they get poorer mileage and cost more to repair.

Some day not too long from now diesel and gas will be priced the same.

All I got to say it that if someone wants to get my truck from me they better have a lot of money or be a good shot.

I almost did that, butt than drove my truck again and realized how much I love the thing. I'm sure it was a tough decision for you to make though, I know I have been beating myself up about it for about a month now. What did you buy, a 1500 or a 2500?

You don't have to get purge your diesel blood completely. For my 100 commute daily, I drive a Bettle TDI that gets 50 MPG. Hey it is a diesel, has a VGT and an intercooler.

Dang man, that stinks I think we all feel your pain. Dont be sorry, they make superchargers for the gassers!

Maybe you can mix some 2-stroke oil with your gas for old times.

That stinks man; sorry to hear about the loss of the beloved.

FWIW, yesterday I was filling up and this old guy was next to me with a brand new Ferd. Very unhappy. His first diesel. He bought it hearing about the stories of 20mpg... I explained when I can stay out of the throttle I will get between 20-23... he is getting 11.5 at best... ouch. Now he can't afford to drive it and can't afford to sell it. Feel bad for the old guy.

I was passing through quebec on my way home on thrusday , and noticed one station had diesel priced at 158.9 per liter ( thats 6.01 per gallon folks), I put 929 liters of diesel in the truck when i got home ( just shy of 1500 bucks, diesel is 1.53 here). I Feel sorry for all the owner/operators out there...
