I don't think we have less talent either....but you also have to consider this year's schedule verses last year's. Last year was no cake walk, but this year A&M had one of the toughest schedules in the nation.

Arkansas State (no big deal there)
Utah (has surprised everyone)
@ Virginia Tech (who trounced Miami)
Pittsburgh (tough team)
@ Texas Tech (who always plays us hard even when they're NOT good)
Baylor (well....whatever)
@ Nebraska (always tough at home)
Oklahoma State (improving every year)
Kansas (nothing big there...although greatly improved)
@ Oklahoma (wanting revenge after we crushed their national title hopes last year)
@ Missouri (tough this year....although Colorado beat them)
Texas (stupid t-sips)

I don't think Slocum would have done any better this year had he been the coach.

I guess t.u. sent their women's field hockey team up here to Dallas for the "Red River Shootout"?? :

65-14....77-0.....so the t.u. women's field hockey team is a little better than the A&M women's field hockey team. : Oh yeah....A&M HAS won a Big 12 title....what's t.u. waiting on??

 

Actually Hoss Texas A&M didn't have one of the hardest, they had the hardest schedule in the Nation.

 

Not to be giving props to t.u., but they did win the 1st Big 12 championship. Tech plays pretty much the same schedule, except for a couple of games, that A&M does. Everyone in the big 12 is tough except for a couple of teams. That's just the way it is. Fact is that if A&M was good, they would have beat most of those teams they lost to. They're not good, and a hard schedule is no excuse for it. Give the ags a few years, they'll be alright.

I wasn't suggesting that we're good...I was just saying that whoever it was that compared last year's season with Slocum to this year's season with Fran needed to consider the schedule. I don't think Slocum could have done any better this year than Fran did.

 

I believe tu won the Big XII in 1996, upset over Nebraska. I know the overall record would probably be the same, but there were a lot of games last year that could have gone either way..very close. Doesnt seem that way this year. I wonder what Slocum is thinking right now.

 

Well...shoot...I thought they hadn't won it yet.

Slocum lost a lot of games last year that he SHOULD have won...which is what bothered me. He SHOULD have beat Virginia Tech at Kyle field, but instead it was 10-3 or something like that. He SHOULD have beat Tech when we were up by 20 points or more going into the 4th quarter....but they came back and won. He SHOULD have won several other games that were all lost in the 4th quarter. I don't doubt that Slocum has a smile on his face right now, but I'm glad he's gone. He was a great coach and I liked him, but his time had come.

At least when we're losing now we're losing the entire game and not giving it away in the 4th (is that a good thing??). Hey....we're losing with AUTHORITY!!

I guarentee that the new guy is better than RC. I know this because on austin radio (KVET), they were saying how much better RC was than the new guy. If the t-sips are saying RC is better, then you can bet he's not. Never trust a t-sip.

 

 

This should make Hoss and the Ags feel better. OU is picked by 50 points over Baylor this weekend. Saw this on sportscenter today, and they also reminded the nation that A&M did indeed whip the heck out of Baylor earlier this season. Not bad press if you ask me.
