Is something in the air? moodswings...

Really, lots of battling in a particular forum...what's been going on lately? I really enjoy being on the forums, try to frequent it everyday, but I almost don't want to say anything anymore, every one seems to want to get offended at everything. (not everyone) I like to be funny, sometimes my sense of humor isn't seen but some of ya'll that come on in a bad mood or something, please don't rain on our parades. This needs to be informative, please don't take any of this the wrong way. I just feel we all need to get back on track and realize what these forums were originally intended to do assertively.

Thank you and good night/morning...whatever.

Patrick

Please, feel free to discuss. I will ask that if this gets out of hand (which I hope won't) that the mods do the responsible thing. I DO NOT want this to start another battle.

LoL!! My first impulse was to use a large font and say "Bite Me" just to be funny. Than it occurred to me that it might not seem funny at all. Anyway, it just happens some times. Awhile back I started getting into it with somebody and I cant even remember what it was about. I just took whatever it was that he had said wrong. Anyway I finally apologized for getting prickly. He never responded to my apology but what the heck. What gets me is when somebody says something that you know they wouldn’t say to your face. The internet makes some guys 8 feet tall. Oh Well, these little squabbles usually go away after awhile.

I appreciate all of your efforts Lary and the rest of the moderators in keeping the forums clean cut. I just figured a little discussion on it could help some of us out. I'd like ppl to feel welcome posting their opinions, but not like some ppl are doing it. I haven't had no big issues, I just realized that many familiar faces aren't so familiar anymore, many comments are just getting witty and personal. I just want all of us to share our experiences like friends, not competitors.

Rick, you are spot on

A little horseplay and friendly ribbing is a good thing, but sometimes guys get just a little too carried away. Deep down I think everyone wants the same thing though, good discussions with the chance to learn something.

I am kind of new to forums myself and had never heard of a Troll until it came up on a diff site. I looked it up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet) Hard to believe there are people who's only goal in life is to be annoying.

I don't know. Most of the people I work with have that goal in mind I think. I actually had this same conversation a few months ago with Lary. I think it is a combination of things that cause it and it happens almost every year during the summer. Weather gets hot, so do people. That and the fact that the economy is in the crapper, gas prices are STILL sky-high, the elections are coming up and we have to listen to every candidate tell us what a dirty-no good-lying sack of doodoo the other guy is. . . Nope, can't figure out why people would be on edge.

I've been seeing a lot of this on many sites [ many not related to diesels / trucks ] , too many are falling for the manipulation form the average media / somethings in the water .
Also I caught onto this a few decades ago , just a lot worse now , people in the same group [ gun rights , just to mention 1 ] , if we need a group effort to do something [ gun rights is just one / but all rights ] , we are not going to keep what ever we want if we chew on each other , instead of those pulling our chains [ if you are not holding onto that chain , no one can pull you by it ] .

Ok, so clue me in. Which thread are you talking about and what part of the conversation? You didn't have to be all shy about it. Lets talk about it. I have no clue which one it is because even though this is my own site, I tend to not read certain forums on purpose!

He is talking about the ongoing battle between Smarty owners and Bullydog Owners trying to antagonize each other at every opportunity

I have addressed the issue and I think we are moving forward in a constructive manner

I come on here to learn and be entertained.

At least on the Internet, if there is something you don't like or what someone is saying, you don't have to read or respond to them.

I don't what know what people's problem is face to face though...lack of communication skills comes to mind for one...but people have really been on edge lately...like they let problems brew in their mind, and by the time they confront it, they just blow up, and everything comes out wrong.

It's weird but this kind of thing happens every once in a while. I've seen it over the years. I would almost be tempted to graph this stuff and come up with a pattern. It always seems to happen at the end of winter and the end of Summer.
